Arrival Story: Now the true story. Monroe was adopted from his birthplace in Tennessee by some x-friends. They did not take very good care of him. The friends at the time came to stay at my house and brought him along. Monroe loved it with us because we cared for him and also had other furkids that he got along with. I asked if we could keep him and eventually they said yes.
Bio: Monroe's past owners had his front claws removed, but they botched the surgery and cut at the wrong place. After I adopted him, I noticed he didn't sleep very much. I had my vet check him out and we discovered the reason he couldn't sleep....he was in a lot of pain. My wonderful vet, Dr. Bruno, redid the surgery and Monroe caught up on some much needed sleep.
Monroe is the most expensive free kitty we have ever had. His past owners left him alone as a kitten and he was not litter trained. We replaced lots of carpeting while we worked with him.
Monroe also jumped onto our two story railing and slipped. He hit the banister on the way down (pictures in photo book) and we had to take him to the emergency pet hospital. He had a pretty blue cast on for several weeks. He didn't like it, but he eventually heeled and got it taken off. He doesn't jump on the railing anymore! Monroe is very sweet for such a big boy and we're lucky that they gave him up to us."We humans are indeed fortunate if we happen to be chosen to be owned by a cat."
Mom took me by surprise this morning and I didn't have a chance to get behind the TV. I'm going to
have to get a new strategy! HISSSSSSS
The mean man v-e-t put something over my face and tested me with an ultrasound machine this morning.
I heard him tell mommy that my left kidney is so small it's almost gone. The good news is my right kidney is normal size with no stones, but it is renal deficient. I must now eat a special food (YUK!) and drink lots of water. He also said that my heart was really good and it might be 2 years until I get worst. I'm counting on it being
longer than that! The babies need me and I'm going to hang in there as long as I can so I can take care of them! They have so much more to learn!!!
Well, got to go now....I been away from home too long and Teddy, Blue and Layla have run wild!
Well, tomorrow is the day I'm going to sick bay. At least I'll be sedated so I won't remember what the v-e-t does to me. I hope the babies will be okay while I'm away. They run in a pack and are really fast. Our house is rather large and it's not easy keeping up with the 3 of them. I hope mom has her running shoes on!!!
I can't even believe this is happening to me and my mom is sooooooo upset. She took me into the mean man
V-E-T today because she noticed I was drinking and peeing, drinking and peeing, over and over. My last blood
test around Christmas time was pretty good for an old boy like me. Anyway, my Big Bummer is I have Kidney Disease just like my brother and sister had. They were a lot older than me and my mom took care of them for a
long time. I don't want to do any of those things they had to go through. I wouldn't even let the mean man touch me today. I'm a big bad boy and I hisssssssed and spit and they got scared. The even worse news is now I have
to go back on Tuesday, but now that I know I'll be ready. I'll be hiding behind the Tv in mom and dad's bedroom.....but don't tell them! Meow
