Arrival Story: Its strange how fate loves to poke its furry little head into our
lives. On 3/21/07 we had to have our beloved Snow put to sleep
due to health problems. He had been with us almost 15 years.
He was the second of two white cats we had. For those of you out
there that have had to go through this, I don't have to tell you how painful this is. On the 22nd I was still feeling very down, it
seemed strange not to see a white cat walking around the house!
My wife asked how I would feel about getting another white cat?
I must say, I was unsure about it, but we agreed that if we were
going to get one, we would see if our local animal shelter( not a no kill shelter, I am sad to say) had one. She went out there and
belive it or not, out of the five cats that they had, TWO of them
were white. (See what I mean by fate's furry little head!!) When
I came home at lunch time, she said that someone had a hold on
the male, but we could have the female. The shelter had them in
separate cages, and they were trying to reach out to each other
and touch paws. If that don't break your heart you must be made
of stone!!( I am made of butter, cause it broke mine) My wife said
we would not find out about the male till 4:30 pm. that day. I
went back to work, and by 2;00pm. I thought that I would go and just take a look at them, no harm in just looking is there?
I walked back to where they were and that was all it took. I went
back and said I wanted them both. ( the thought of leaving one
of them there alone was more than I could take!) They said the male had a hold on him still. I said I would like to take them both NOW!! To make a long story short, by 2:30 I had them, and
was going home. I brought both of them home, much to the
delight and surprise of my wife. We have to keep them in seperate part of the house for now, ( they both came from the
shelter with a cold) but when they are well, we will introduce
them to the rest of the pride. You never know when fate will rub
up against your leg and start purring!
