Arrival Story: When my daughter was in her senior year of college, she and her roommate smuggled the kitten they got from the college post office clerk into their suite on the 4th floor at the end of the hall of the dorm. Of course, this "big secret" was shared by 42 young women who all missed their pets at home. Cosmo was supposed to go home with the roommate. And she did for Winter and Spring break. At graduation, the roommate received a summer in Europe as a graduation present and she turned around and gave my daughter Cosmo as her graduation gift! Cosmo came home with us. It was only supposed to be until my daughter got a job and an apt. because I had another cat, Kazpurr, who was not too thrilled having a bratty little kitten in the house and she thought he was a grumpy old guy who was no fun.
The summer passed and my daughter got a job in DC with a roommate who was allergic to cats so Cosmo became my cat and responsibility. It is still special for them both when my daughter visits but, now ,I'm Mom and Cosmo is the senior pet in the house and is referred to as Queen Cosmo these days.

Mom threw out all our food last week! Then she started making us "people food". Now I do like some people food like steak and salmon, especially when I get to eat it from Mom's fingers. That's not what she was making. Spinach noodles and chicken ground up in that noisy machine. Yuck! it was like eating paste-even Howi wouldn't eat it. "We're going to starve", we yowled. Then she made chicken soup, veggies and rice-that was a little better, at least we could drink the soup but forget about those mushy veggies and rice. '"I want my crunchy food!" ,I howled. Soft-boiled eggs for breakfast-Howi couldn't hold out anymore so he ate them! Not me-I waited until that can of Bumblebee Tuna came out....A short while later, Mom came back with Solid Gold Katz N Flocken kibble and cans. She said this kind was "safe" whatever that means.... Now that's a crunchy food fit for a Queen-Solid Gold!

It's about time Mom has given me my own page on Catster! Those dogs have been on Dogster forever and I have barely been given an Honorable Mention!
Since I'm the Queen Cat and Senior pet in my house, I certainly deserve some respect! Especially since all the other pets were "rescues" and I'm the only one that has been in this family since I was a little kitty nine years ago! Mom makes a big deal about how Annie the dog went to Obedience School-so what? I was in college with my Lisa before I came to live with Mom!
Finally, that Romeo bird that bit me on the nose bit the dust , then Kazpurr, that grumpy old cat that Mom thought was an Angel finally became a real one at the Rainbow Bridge, than that nasty big dog, Zoya, who bit me on the tummy when I fell on top of her as a kitty and I had to wear a girdle for a month, finally got planted under a tree in the backyard. At last, I was the Queen and the only adored pet in the house!
But not for long...one day, Mom came home with this sick big white cat and locked me out of my bedroom. She spent a lot of time in there and wouldn't let me see him for about 2 weeks. Finally, she opened the door. I told him he could walk on the floor but that was it-everything else was MINE, MINE, MINE! He said he didn't care, I could be the Boss as long as he had a safe place to sleep and plenty to eat. Fine,I allowed him to stay but he better remember his place. Not too long after that, there was some big storms and Mom came home with 6 birds, that looked just like that nasty Romeo!!! I don't want any part of them! Fortunately, she only kept 3 of them now. Then, just a few days after we got rid of that big dog, she came home with another dog. This time a big black dog that was so furry I couldn't even tell if it was looking at me so I just kept away from it. She was very sick puppy and just slept all the time. She's OK but don't tell Mom I said that 'cause I wouldn't want her thinking we were friends or anything.
So through all of this I managed to remain the Queen of the Pets and none of my subjects even think about messin' with me-except Mom.
