| -mixed breed | -pound cat | -cat rescue | |
 Birthday: April 14th 2001
 Coloration: Black and White

Likes: Being at home again (adopted from shelter), having peace to eat and sleep with no other kitties around, playing "Paula the Powerful", music and last but not least...FOOD.

Pet-Peeves: Neighbors slamming their door, thuderstorms, other kitties - that's why she's going to be an only furchild forever

Favorite Nap Spot: In her tent or on her favorite rug with a blanket.

Favorite Food: Winston brand- Geflugel-Happchen in Yogurt Dressing (translated "poultry-small pieces")

Skills: She's bilingual, she understands English and German. She has a super-bionic sense of smell. She is an excellent Night Watchcat.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: We saw a special plea on the Berlin Tierheim website for a "traumatized" cat called Paula. Basil had passed away 5 months ago and we had considered to have another cat, but when we really pictured any other kitty living with us, it was too painful. Then we read about Paula. She had lived in an apartment with a woman and 6 other cats. The woman died and Paula ended up at the shelter 2 1/2 years ago. In that time, she never came out from under her blanket except to go to the potty. They even had to put her food right up to where she always sat or she wouldn't eat. She used to pee when anyone came near. She was truly sad and scared. We met her on a Tuesday and the following Monday after 5 visits, Paula became our newest family member.

Bio: The shelter staff do not agree on her age, placing her birth at 4/2001, but with several remarks that she is likely much older. We do not know what her life was like with the woman, or what it was like before she met her for that matter. I like to think that she was beloved and that her old guardian is resting easier now seeing that Paula has a forever family who love her no matter what. She has come very far in the short time she's been here. I haven't touched her yet. She's not ready for that kind of contact, but we are getting along great, playing together and eating together. She likes my singing, too! (Cats are very forgiving when it comes to human voices, I guess). Each day she is less scared. She has been eating and playing the whole time she's been here. We thank Frau Wesselhöft for her care and interest in Paula that made it possible for us to meet her. And we think Basil the Angel had something to do with it too. She has a big heart and we're sure she wanted to help Paula out of her sadness. And she knew it would bring us happiness too. Paula has been a joy so far and we love her just the way she is. Welcome home, Paula!

Silvester sucks. No, the Silvester I am talking about is not a cat. In Germany, where I live, New Year's Eve is called Silvester. And where I live it is legal to shoot off fireworks anywhere you want to on Silvester. The people who do it don't go in for your firecrackers and bottle rockets. Oh no, the smallest thing they light off here is roman candles. Our apartment is on a very narrow street that only one car at a time can pass on. Right down underneath our window on the street last night, the drunk idiots started their explosions at 7:30pm. It didn't stop until 5:00am. It is so loud and scary. Sillymom sat with me for hours telling me stories and singing for me. She and papa stayed home so I wouldn't be by myself through that. Even today, it is still happening. I was out from under the bed enjoying the peace and safety I felt today and then sure enough, right outside our apartment, there are some bad people lighting off more today. Papa is not home now so it's me and sillymom. I guess we'll go sit and tell more stories now. I hope all of my friends had a good new year's eve. And a happy 2008 to all!
Love,
Paula

Christmas. I really love that day. It was so much fun! On the night of Christmas Eve, Sillymom gave in and said we could open presents, but then PAPA said no, let's wait for tomorrow. So what did I do? I stayed in bed until 10:15pm and made them wait to open presents. Pretty funny, huh? I was so happy when we opened presents and I saw what I got.
Scooter gave me a very special beautiful handmade snuggly pink blanket and handmade soft toy balls. I have been sleeping comfortably and having sweet dreams on my nice new blanket. Sillymom said we could call it my "woobie", but nothing in my personality lends me to calling anything a woobie. It's my Princess Scooter blanket. They balls are so much fun! And not only do I love them, but my papa does too. They don't rattle or jingle. I do most of my playing in the wee hours and it wakes him up sometimes. Sillymom sleeps through it because she wears ear plugs to block out the neighbors (and papa's snoring). But Christmas was not over yet. Cooter,
Luke,
Sissy,
Copy&Paste and
Shadow sent me some really good smelling and fun stuff. I just love the special comfort pouch. Sillymom calls it my pillow because I lay my head on it. I rub my head on it and basically snuggle with it a lot. There were some fun little mousies and more quiet toy balls and a catnip filled toy that Sillymom hung from my tall cat tree for me to play with. I have been having a great time with all of my new things! Thanks, friends...all of you.
Sillymom and papa gave me a birdie song cd and a few little toys and a big yellow carrier. At least they say it's a carrier. I've never seen anything like it and I can go in and out of it. I like to sit in it. Apparently that is what I am going to ride in to go to the new apartment in March.
So Christmas was a good day. I hope all my friends everywhere had a great day with their families. That is the best present of all, isn't it? To have our forever families and be loved. And I hope all my Angel friends had a wonderful Christmas in Heaven.
Now I just have to make it through tomorrow night. In Germany it is legal to shoot off fireworks anywhere you want to for "Silvester" (New Years Eve). And we're not just talking firecrackers or bottle rockets, my friends. It gets pretty scary around here. Last year I lived in the shelter for it. Last year Sillymom and Papa were in this apartment. I know from hearing Sillymom talking how bad it was. They are staying home with me because at midnight, all the idiots start shooting off mega-fireworks. It is going to be very scary and my family doesn't want me to suffer alone through it. So I'm wishing you all a peaceful and happy new year! Send me some purrs for it to go by quickly here.

My sillymom will not let me open presents until tomorrow! Even though Papa and I both told her that I'm German and in Germany all presents are supposed to be opened today. There is stuff with my name on it from Scooter, too! I want to see what it is!!!
This Christmas is going to be difficult for the family that
Buddie and
McKenna left behind. I am going to be sending up extra purr-prayers for them.
For those of us lucky enough to be together with our families, we should remember not just now, but all year how very special it is to be loved.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with lots of love.
.....now, we're just gonna see about this not opening presents until tomorrow business....i could probably get a few open without any help....hmmmmm
