A Creative Kitty Helping A Creative Mommy

Daylight-saving time can screw up a kitty or two!

The Cincy Three and Mom has been excited all week about daylight-saving time. We're all big fans of it being lighter longer. Keeps Mom in a better mood, and we all like being able to look out of the windows with the windows open, so we can feel the breeze, and being able to watch things longer before it gets dark.

But we all slept until 3:30 p.m. today! Even though, really, it's 2:30, which would've been the typical time Mom wakes up on the weekend.

Mom said she had a really interesting dream that would probably make a good story. She asked if I could hop on the computer and find music with a "castle" and an "immortal" theme. But not immortal like in vampire. She's not a big fan of vampires, for some reason. She once told me that it was because vampires are always written about.

So I thought I'd hop on Catster while I look through Mom's iTunes, and go through some paw-mail. Mom gets distracted when she does writing. It's only fair that I do too. :)

I wrote a poem!

It's for the weekly poetry contest over at the Pet Poetry Group.

Mom didn't help me. She doesn't like to write poetry.

Clustered leaves in groups of four,
Luck bestowed to cats who find.
Over a rainbow, one must seek
Vivid green in fields abound.
Examining carefully, each delicate plant.
Reaching gently, hoping to find
Special wishes, waiting for me.

Skittles hurt me!

Mom hasn't started her plotting binge yet. She doesn't think she's going to. Instead, she took it easy this morning, and stayed in bed for a long time with Callie and Skittles because she doesn't do enough cuddle time with us in the bed.

At some point, while they were all watching TV, I jumped up to claim my spot on the futon. I was only at the end of the bed, on the kitty blankets. Skittles turned and looked at me, then came after me, swatting. I leaned back, tried swatting at him, then kinda fell off/jumped off the futon. I went running into the kitchen, only to have Callie chase after me. Luckily, Tailless Cat remained in the kitchen window.

Everybody's been doing that a lot lately. Ganging up on me. I don't know why. I'm the most easiest cat to get along with.

So I came back into the living room, and jumped up on Mom's computer desk, and sat behind her iMac, which is my new safe spot lately. Mom still was all covered up on the futon, but she watched lick and lick myself. (Later on... Mom said she had a bad feeling about me doing so much licking.)

When Mom finally got up, she came over and pet me. I was still behind the iMac. And that's when she saw little blood specks on the wall by me. And then she saw blood spots on the lower base of her computer desk, and blood splatters on the stepstool she uses as her computer chair. Then she went in the kitchen and saw blood splotters on the floor by the food dishes and on the flower rug by the heating vent.

She got me out from behind the computer and checked me out. She couldn't find any hurts or dried blood or anything. Well, the third time she checked me out, she found some crusty fur on my front paw, so she cleaned me up with a wet washcloth, but never found any blood. I did a really good job at tending to my wound.

Mom gave me lots of hugs though and apologized for not checking on me when she had the bad feeling. She just thought Skittles was being typical Skittles, and I didn't make any sort of hurt noise or anything when Skittles came after me. It was all just typical Kitty Fight Club.

About an hour later, the three of us were all zonked out on the futon like what happened earlier today never did happen. Tailless Cat is in the box in the kitchen pantry.

Joining Catster!

Mom should be at work, but she helped me put together my Catster page today before heading out. :)

I'm Zora--Mom's muse. I earned the nickname after Mom was having a *terrible* time... around this time last year, actually... with her writing. She was trying to work on two novels at once, and was getting bogged down staying up so late. One night, she stayed up really late, determined to finish an assignment on her science fiction novel, and she wasn't sure she could do it. I jumped up on the table, sat there and stared at her, providing her with purring encouragement to get through. (That's the last picture on my page.)

Ever since then, she's called me her muse and said that when she gets a book published... she's going to put me on the dedication page.

Speaking of writing, Mom is going to do a plotting binge this weekend. I'm excited to help her, but I'm worried there'll be no place for me to sit and do my purring encouragement. The table she usually writes at during the winter is *covered* with stuff. I only sit behind her iMac when the other cats go after me.

She might actually work on her iMac this weekend. If that's the case, I'll have to stand behind her as she sits on the stepstool, working, and tap her on the back for pets. I sometimes do that when she works on the iMac.

I guess I should email Contessa too. We were working on a big physics paper awhile back. We need to get back to that.
