Its been a month

Sorry its been so long since we have updated our diary. Mom has been too busy to help us. She had to finish out the school year and the end of the year is always a huge pain for her. She is a secretary at a middle school, and getting the end of the year stuff taken care of and the stuff for the next year ready to go takes a lot of time. She spent most of the last two months getting home really late.

She also has a friend that has needed company lately and she has been getting home really late from there too, so that is even more lap time we are missing with her, and then she disappeared overnight earlier this week, and she won't let us walk on her like we used to (Mom here - I had back surgery and they insist on walking on the incision - the back feels great, until they decide to put all of their weight on the bandage).

We are looking forward to having mom home for the next three weeks before she has to go back to work. We like having her home with us.

Mom's been getting home late

Well, with the end of school only a week away, mom has been getting home very late. She is always at least an hour later and sometimes more. She says she is really ready for the kids to be gone, if only so the end of the year field trips, awards ceremonies, promotion practices, and all the rest of the end of year activities will be over and done with. I'm not sure why she likes the kids as much as she says she does - but she says that the middle school years bring about such changes in the kids and she really likes watching the transformation from someone who thinks only of themselves, to someone who will occasionally think of others. She has a whole lecture on why the pre-teen and early teen kids are great, but I won't bore you with it.

She has another week of activities, and then should be back to getting home on time. Personally, I can't wait. It means more snuggle time with us kitties.

Outside

Since we keep trying to sneak outside, Mom finally broke down (after 13 years) and bought us a harness and a leash. I have to share with my brother, but that is okay because I have discovered something - I don't like to be outside on a harness. Mom has taken me out a couple of times, and I just sit there. I refuse to move. She even took me on a long walk and she ended up carrying me most of the way. When she would set me down, I would take a step or two and then freeze. I really like being outside, and sniffing the air, but I don't want to have a harness and leash. I think mom is going to have to break down and buy a stroller for us.

Its been a while

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated you on what we are up too. Mom had to go out of town during her vacation from work. She says she doesn't know why she calls it a vacation because she works harder in that week than she does the whole rest of the year.

Mom is a secretary at a middle school, and she is the person who coordinates and chaperone's the 8th grade field trip to Philadelphia, Washington DC, Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. She has done this for 8 years now. She really likes the trip and loves seeing the kids get excited about history.

We don't like it very much when she goes on the trip tho. We are stuck home without her. Our Papa looks after us, and feeds us, and cuddles us, be he isn't Mom. AND, we don't have our doggie to cuddle with either. Mom takes her out to a friend's house for the week because Papa works nights and sleeps during the day, and Camie needs someone who will take her outside to sniff around, etc. When Mom gets home, we spend as much time with her as we can - today was the first day that we semi left mom alone, and she has been back home for a week already.

Anyway, that is about what we have been up to.

Sleepy Saturday

Hello,

I still keep trying to get outside, but I am blocked at every turn. I have been taken out a couple of times in mom's arms, but it just isn't the same as being able to get out on your own. Mom has been watching me like a hawk to make sure I don't get out. We got some Temptations last night. They were good, but my hog of a brother kept pushing me out of the way. Mom wouldn't let him steal any from me, but he kept trying. Finally, I decided it was too much work to watch mom fighting him to let the rest of us have a turn, that I hopped down, but then I had to fight my other brother for my turn. You would think that as scared as he is of people, he would be afraid to get some treats from mom, but that is the one thing he isn't as afraid of. He gets spooked easily, but wanting the treats wins out over his fears.

Diary of the Day

Wow, what an honor it was to be chosen diary of the day yesterday. I was so surprised. I haven't been doing all that much. I did get to go outside last night in Mom's arms. She walked with me down the block for a little bit, and then we came home and she took my brother out. I really hope she gets a stroller soon, so we can go out a lot more. I think it would be so neat to be able to take long walks with her and our doggie sister.

Roast Beef

Yum, We had roast beef as a treat tonight. We got some even before mom got some. I think I came in to visit with her at just the right time. I was the only one in the room with her, so I got to eat uninterrupted. It was magnificent. In other news, I haven't really had the opportunity to try to get outside. I have been taken out once or twice, but Mom always held me. She won't let me down. I hope some day, I will be able to get outside with mom where I can explore.

Pizza for dinner

Not for me, but for mom. I did get a little bit of cheese to eat, but I kept trying to steal a piece from her. She kept picking me up and putting me behind her (like that is a deterant).

No opportunities presented themselves to allow me to sneak out of the house today - darn it. I keep looking for them, but with no more workmen coming, it is a lot more difficult.

Well, I didn't get out today

Well, I didn't get out today, not that there was any chance to escape. Mostly, we just stayed in bed and rested today. I did decide to chase my brother and try to beat him up a bit today. Of course, mom got mad at me, and pulled my brother over to her to baby him. She didn't do that to me. She did come and get me later to cuddle with. Have a good week everyone.

Locked up again

Well, I didn't get out today, but I did get locked up in the room with Mom, Tiki and Camie for a little bit. I did some yowling, and then some sleeping, and then mom decided to let me out after a while. The workmen weren't coming in and out, or leaving the door open, so Mom thought I would be okay in the rest of the house. Of course, to be contrary - like all cats should - I decided to stay in the room with her and sleep, at least for a while. I hope everyone has a good weekend.
