Fire Fly..........

I met one last night while sitting on the front porch with my mom. He and I came nose to nose. I like the way he flashed at me. I stood real still so I wouldn't scare him away. He bobbed up and down flew a little ways away. I thought he was going to fly away but he came back again, flashed at me then flew away. Mom wished she'd had her camera. Maybe next time!

We dropped by Tabby's diary and read your comment(s). We are so happy that you decided to brave the "lions den" and are sorry you felt you were surrounded by hostility. I do understand why you felt that way, but I think you also understand why, as owners of pets, the subject of what we feed our pets is a very emotional one for some, especially for people like Tabby's mom. Before the tainted food of 2007 most of us were not as aware of what was in the pet food and it's quality. Having an animal die because the maker lacked quality control or just plain cut corners with inferior ingredients struck deep. It makes us advocates for our pets. We now have a duty to keep an eye on pet food companies, some say we watch them like hawks. We do this because we can't trust them to watch themselves. Some don't even "come clean" when they have been caught by independent testing and see that the food is remove from the shelves. We want you to join us and be a "watch Dogster/Catster". You see nationally know or not a company is only as good as it's recall background, be it food, treats, litter, flea/tick meds, ect, and seeing that it has been poor and less then honest in handling those situations should be the major part of your "litmus test". Reading your post in Tabby's diary showed us that you would feel horrible if anyone was to contact you and tell you that the product/food they used because it had been advertised on Dogster/Catster made their pet sick or worse yet killed the pet.

You may not understand but we are trying to show you that we have moms and paws behind us that take responsibility for our well being more seriously then ever before and they want to trust you to help provide them the best products to keep us happy, healthy Catsters and Dogsters.

We ALWAYS appreciate the things you do for us, the little and the BIG. You have helped many a pet when you OK fund raisers and raffles for staggering vet bills, or to help transport pets to their new furever homes.

This morning we read Hazel Lucy and Samoa's diaries that told about their mom's conversations with you. One thing is certain, Ted (Top Cat), you have opened a door for communication between you and your subscribers.

We say NO to Nutro!!

We think that Nuto is a very poor choice to be allowed to advertise, especially on the "Food" page on Catster. The reason we feel this way is because the quality control of the food is in question. Mom has decided that we need to help get the word out since she ACTUALLY was so concerned about it that she changed us from MaxCat/Nutro when Nutro was having recalls on their dog foods for salmonilla. We had been MaxCat/Nutro kitties from the time that I was adopted and my kits had been since they were born. See we are FHV kitties and our Vet told mom and paw that we should be fed a good quality food to help our immune systems control the Herpes virus along with doses of L-lysine. The potential problems that could come from 4 kitties being feed a food mom could not trust made her hunt for a different brand. Just after that a quality control issue with MaxCat/Nutro adding 2 to 3x'x more copper and then incorrect levels of zinc and potassium causing kitties to become ill and die. What was worse was that was to have been recalled was still on petfood store shelves in some areas of the United States made her REALLY HAPPY that she had switched us when she did. Now it continues with incorrect amounts of vitamin D3. Now you can see why we feel the way we do about this company. You ALSO need to know that the parent company makes Greenies. We used to LOVE Greenies, but the risk is too great they are also not in our household any more.

My dear furrend Scarlet posted a most important diary entry. She is so articulate that I "stole" it and am reporting it too. Please dear furrends, it is very important that Angel Eve's death not be in vain.

All the Bridge Angels were celebrating today because the Cat's Meow featured our darling Angel Eve!!! Her story has touched the hearts of caring people around the world. Quite an accomplishment for one little kitten!

Meowmy wanted me to post an update. She and Mommy Terry, along with friends and supporters of Eve's, have written to the government officials mentioned below. As of today, they have received a total of 0 responses. It seems Eve's mommies and their furriends are being ignored by those in a position to help improve the situation at Okefenokee Humane Society.

In Eve's memory, all the Bridge Angels are asking any of you who can to contact these people, asking for an inquiry into Eve's case and conditions at OHS. If enough voices are raised, perhaps we will be heard. We'll be sprinkling angel dust for luck!!!

Another Bear out there..............................

Funniest thing happened this morning. I saw myself. No not a reflection in a mirror, but another cat sitting out in the yard by the pond. Mom asked me what I was looking at and looked out the window too. "Bear", she said,"that kitty looks just like YOU!' She went to get her camera, but my "twin" was already gone. We will watch for my "twin" to return so that we can take a pix. As you can see I am a bit unusual in my colors & markings so to find another cat that looks like me is really neat.

I'm in the Mouse Dunking Dog er... Cat House

Mom knows that I like to dunk my catnip mousies in the water bowl. Usually I leave them there for her to find, but last night I did more and I am in trouble. You see I decided to come visit her in the middle of the night and she noticed that my fur was wet. She figured that I just hopped in and out of the shower or got one of the milk jug rings or a mouse and dropped it in the water bowl and went back to sleep. When she got up this morning she saw a mousie laying on her bed with K.C., Snoopur and I and when she picked it up it was soaking wet. Needless to say that she was not terribly happy that I not only dunked the mouse, but all the wet spots on the stairs carpet showed I played with it all the way up the stairs before bring it in to her bed. She sqeezed the water out of it and put it up to dry. She said that she would make her decision on if I would get it back or not after it dries.

Moral of the story: dunked mousies should stay in the water bowl

Hey I was out in the wild. No supper dishes were I was. I had to get my own meals and that was not the easiest thing, but I did. It was on my "to do list" everyday when I found out that no one puts food in your bowl out in the sticks but you! The Vet told Mom and Paw that this was a possibility 2-3 months down the road even though they gave me that yucky stuff twice after they found me. So nobody should have been too surprised if the squigglys showed up. K.C. was cool about it. She has lived on the streets and understands, but Shadow and Snoopur are being "prisses" about it.

It's the New Year!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy I am glad that I was found while it was still somewhat warm outside. It has been "hug the heater" weather here. There has also been a lot of white stuff falling all over the place. At night I go upstairs with K.C. and Snoopur to curl up with Mom, Shadow comes later if Paw is not home. Mom says that we can really generate some heat. If we leave during the night we always come up next morning when we smell the coffee making itself. K.C. will bounce right on top of Mom to get her up and going , then we all go down for breakfast.

Our Christmas present finally grew. Boy is it deeeelish! Mom got it for Christmas, but we get to eat it. We are working on on fresh catnip next. Mom thinks that it may be more of a challenge to grow then the cat grass. She has that down to a science.

We also got a neat thing called a tunnel. They have named it after me. Mom and Paw call it "Bear's Tunnel". I have a hard time using it to "attack" unsuspecting kitties as they past by it when Mom and Paw laugh and say that I am in my tunnel. Don't they understand I am "stalking " and don't want my presence to be anounced. They would both go hungry if they had to sneak up on their supper!
