indoors Arrival Story: I found Misto and her sister Quazo in an alley during the hottest part of summer when I was a college student. The temperature had been over 100 for almost two weeks and we hadn’t had any rain when I found them in an alley near a dumpster.
I guess I could say that Quazo found me because she is the one that meowed to get my attention and then showed me where her sister was hiding so that Misto wouldn’t be left behind.
They both looked terrible. They were severely dehydrated and had no fur left because they had chewed it off to try and get rid of their fleas they were just skin and bones and they each fit into the palm of my hand.
I took them thinking that I could get them to a shelter and find them a good home since I really didn’t want any cats – or so I thought.
I got them to a friend’s apartment and we bathed both of them in some flea shampoo that I went and got. Quazo enjoyed it by trying to submerge herself all the way into the bath and once she was done she just curled up in my friends arms and went to sleep.
Misto was another story. Weak as she was she fought and twisted through the whole bath and drying until I finally let her go and she ran off and hid in the bathroom and wouldn’t let anyone near her.
We sat around talking about what to do with the two foundlings and everyone kept saying I should keep them but I wasn’t convinced. What finally changed my mind was that Misto came out of the bathroom, walked past everyone and came right up to me and began meowing at me.
I finally picked her up and as soon as she was in my arms she curled up in the crook of my elbow, began purring and went to sleep.
They have been with me ever since and I couldn’t be happier about it. Bio: Quazo passed away in my arms at 3:11 am on Dec 11th 2009. She is greatly missed by all of us. I've Been On Catster Since:
