Mom went with her friend for a nice long walk this morning, on the paved bike trail here....SAW a SNAKE ugggggg, but otherwise a beautiful spring morning. It's now cooling off and dark clouds are moving in. According to the weather forecast, SOMETHING is on it's way, severe thunderstorms, hail and possible tornadoes. Mom has all our carriers ready, wish we had a basement but the most interior spot in the house will have to do.
Stay safe everyone.

Greystone, a Tennessee kitty furriend, has tagged me and asked me to tell what makes me happy in the springtime. It's taken me a few days to write as Mom has been sad after losing her good friend last week.
What makes me happy....
Generally, I try to take joy in each day, I especially do this after my health scare last year.
In the Springtime I love watching the birdies return, there were dozens of robins in the yard a couple weeks ago-a harbinger of Spring.
Yesterday, it was warm enough for me to go out on the screened porch for the first time this year and I had a puddle of sunshine to enjoy in the afternoon.
I love the fresh mountain air when when the windows are open.
I like to watch Mom work outside, she enjoys this.
I like to laugh when Mom startles the resident black snake and screeches, hehehehe,it resides in the back corner by the garden. Mom has made peace with it as it is territorial and helps keep venomous snakes away. Mom has learned to use a rake when moving straw, mulch etc.
Spring is a beautiful time of year, everyone enjoy.

It is the end of winter here on the mountain and the beginning of spring, daffodils blooming, trees budding out and life goes on.
Mom lost another good friend this week, C. had struggled and fought the good fight for 3 years against that insidious disease, cancer. Mom loves a poem Dad wrote long ago; "The Spring I didn't see is the one I miss the most." C. was a lover of the outdoors, beautiful flowers and took joy in life. She will be greatly missed.
Life goes on, Mom and Dad are going to a Celtic Fair tomorrow and are going by the garden center to buy mountain laurel to plant as a memorial.
Hugs and purrs from GJ

Thanks to all who sent me birthday greetings and zealies. Catster was having problems this morning. Mom got notification in her email but the zealies did not appear on my page. Catster had the problem corrected later in the day but I'm disappointed that I can't see a lot of them and read your notes.
But, I appreciate all your good wishes and I've had a peaceful day snuggling in my bed on this cold snowy day.
Best purrs from Gentleman Jack
From Jack's Mom, Catster responded promptly when we contacted HG and also said they will refund any zealies that didn't go through.
Also, with Jack so sick last fall, we're especially happy to be celebrating his 11th birthday and seeing him feeling so well.

Hello my furriends, Sending happy purrs and hope everyone is well. We've had a cold, damp winter-Mom says bone chilling-and have loved our warm beds, sending warm purrs to all you Northeast kitties, sounds like you'll have mega snow tomorrow.
After a one month break I went back to the vet for my checkup today. My blood sugar reading, off insulin :) was 110!!!!! And, I'm a healthy, muscular 12 pounds. Dr. P and Mom and Dad were all so pleased and happy. The office ladies and vet techs petted me and made much of me,blush. I don't have to go back for 2 months, not until April. This was such wonderful news. Best of all, I'm playing like a kitten, Minerva and Micky don't quite know what to think.

Hope everyone is doing well and that your new year is off to a good start.
We had wonderfurl news today. I've been completely off insulin for 4 weeks now and today my blood sugar remained normal, it was 90! For the first time since my diabetic journey started in September, I get a one month break from going to the vet. Today I thanked Dr. P and his caring staff for helping me get well and I want to thank all my Catster furriends for your prayers/purrs and your caring comments. Mom and Dad are relieved, they were so scared when this started and it's such a joy to see me playing and feeling good.
Hugs and Purrs, Gentleman Jack

Wishing all our wonderful Catster friends a joyous Christmas and the happiest of New Year's wishes.
The very best Christmas gift ever was that for the second week in a row my blood sugar was in the normal range, 120 off insulin, a healthy reading for kitties.
I get a two week break, for the first time since September, of going down to the vet weekly, I don't have to go back until the New Year. I feel good and I'm eating well and playing. Mom says tears come to her eyes when she sees me looking so healthy and happy. Purrs and prayers were truly answered for us.
Mom is still grieving over the loss of her old friend and feels a great sadness but she is taking joy in all the memories she has and the gift of such a friendship in her life.
Peaceful purrs and blessing from Gentleman Jack

Wonderful news at the vet this morning, my blood sugar was low normal on just 1 unit of insulin. Dr. P took me completely off insulin. No shots this next week!!! I'll go back in one week for a check. Please purr that my sugar does not do something extreme and stays in the normal range.
Momcatt here: What good news today, we've been so worried about Jack this past 3 months. At first we thought we we're going to lose him with the diabetes and lung condition. This is truly prayers answered and a blessing.
Thanks for all the purrs and kind messages.
Love, Gentleman Jack and Momcatt

Thank you all for your kind words, purrs and prayers. Mom is very sad and tearful today, she's going to throw herself into finishing an outdoor painting project on this rare warm day and embrace the beauty on our mountain.
Grief is what we naturally feel when we lose someone we love, Mom knows this in her head but her heart still hurts.
Mom is remembering things past, all the joyful times she and her friend Sara had, she was one of those 'gift people' in life who help us make more of ourselves and bring joy into our lives.
Peace to all today, Jack and Jen
