Arrival Story: I had always wanted Siamese but didn't want to deprive a cat of being able to go outside, so chose Mik and his brother Merry because they weren't so obviously foreign as a Siamese, so I could let them outside.
Bio: Mikky was always a faddy eater and would regularly stop eating altogether and become very thin. When he was about 2 1/2 we took him for some blood tests and found that he had kidney disease. Having had several cats in the past with kidney disease we knew the pattern it would follow. We made the decision to give him intravenous fluids at home, rather than take him in to the vet frequently, which would have caused him immense distress and to give him steroids about every 6 - 8 weeks to boost his appetite. He lasted longer than any of our other kidney disease cats have done and had excellent quality of life right up to his last few days. We had to have him put to sleep just before Christmas 206. He is sadly missed.
