Arrival Story:
We found Mayaa in the adoption area of PetSmart in early January. We were still living in a cat-free apartment at the time so we couldn't do anything about it. When we moved into a house later on that month, we went back to PetSmart and found that she was still there! We got to meet her and found out what a sweetheart she was, so we adopted her and brought her home.

Bio:
We do not know what Mayaa went through at her old house, but apparently someone surrendered her because they were unable to pay vet bills. Mayaa is very shy, but very sweet. She loves being petted and brushed. She is very shy and is scared primarily of men for some reason (we can only guess it has something to do with her previous household). While she will let men touch her, too quick of a movement will scare her away. She does not like being held or confined, although she is leash trained and is perfectly fine having a harness fastened to her for trips to the vet. She has a love-hate relationship with her little sister, Hikaru. She loves wrestling and chasing (or being chased) by Hikaru on occasion, but many times she doesn't feel up to being around a kitten and will hiss and run out of Hikaru's reach. Still, they seem to be warming up to each other and have been caught taking naps together and giving each other baths. "Mayaa" is the name that we gave her upon taking her into our home. It's the name of a sweet cat from a Japanese animation called "Azumanga Diaoh". Mayaa has took little to no time to grow adjusted to being called her new name and has lived up to the name with her sweet-tempered personality.
