Arrival Story:
In 2004, the Performing Animal Welfare Society (www.PAWS.org) became the guardians of 38 tigers that had been in a “pseudo-sanctuary" operated under the name "Colton Tiger Rescue" in Colton, California. Fortunately, criminal charges were brought against the owner. To help fund the 10-acre tiger sanctuary, PAWS auctioned off naming rights for the tigers. We lost our kitty Willie to cancer in Feb 2000 and thought this would be a nice tribute. We won the auction to name a tiger (2 actually – see “Jesus (the tiger)”) so there is a tiger named Willie being well cared for in California at the PAWS Ark 2000 sanctuary. The tigers have swimming pools and toys. We recently got an update on Willie the tiger “He is one of our sweetest tigers of our big cats and is a favorite to all our keepers.”
