Arrival Story:
Christmas, 1996, Gloria was my Xmas present from my Mother. My Mom was living in a nursing home, and asked my husband to take her shopping for my special gift. He had no idea where they were going shopping. They went to West Volusia Humane Society, and adopted Gloria out of all the many dogs there. She came home to me as a 30 pound, 10 month old dog with a big red bow around her neck. She had been very abused, and had been found wandering in Lake Helen. She was due to be put to sleep because she was in such bad shape. Gloria Thomas, Director, of the W Vol Humane Society, saw a little spark in Gloria, and refused to have her put down. 3 months later we adopted her, and she has really been such a blessing.

Bio:
Gloria was named after the old rock and roll song G L O R I A, and after the wonderful lady at the Humane Society

Gloria's Thoughts

I am at Rainbow Bridge with my sister!

July 17th 2008 5:42 pm   [link to this entry]

I went to Rainbow Bridge today. It is so beautiful here. My Mommy and Daddy were crying when I went to sleep. I don't hurt any more and Peggy Sue was waiting for me. She is showing me around heaven, and we are being taken care of by our human Grandmother who is here with us.
I am not hurting any more!

My Last Vacation to NC and GA, and Good Bye to my Friends

July 16th 2008 9:11 am   [link to this entry]

Mommy and Daddy took me in the RV with them to go see friends in NC and GA. It is the first ever trip that I have taken without my sister Peggy Sue. I really had a hard time getting around this trip. I told my Mommy that I am ready to go to heaven and be with my sister Peggy Sue. I can hardly walk at all anymore. I am a big girl, and Mommy and Daddy have to lift me in and out of the truck and the RV. My Grandma is waiting for me in heaven too, I just know it. She will take very good care of me, and Peggy Sue. All my kitties will be there too! Mommy said so. We visited Elvis, Buster, and Miss Ellie Mae in GA. I really love their Mama and Daddy! They said good by to me, and had tears. I tried to tell them not to worry, that I am going to a wonderful place at Rainbow Bridge. My Mommy told me there were tears beacause humans are so selfish, and never want their animal friends to leave them. Mommy asked that Peggy Sue and I continue to take care of them, like always.
I am content to know that tomorrow Dr John will make me comfortable and my humans will let me go on. I would like to ask for prayers for my Mommy and Daddy, as they are already crying for me.

Health News

March 30th 2008 6:06 pm   [link to this entry]

It seems that my hind legs are not getting any stronger, and the older I get the harder it is for me to get around. I have gotten to the point that I wait for my Mommy and Daddy to help me walk through the house with them holding on to me, or just by walking with me and telling me I can do it.
My long greyhound legs are hard to manage and slip out from under me in the rear. I have also started walking on the top of my two back feet. They don't always straighten out under me. Mommy worries and the vet says there is really nothing we can do. I stick pretty close to my sister Peggy Sue. She is having trouble breathing with her congestive heart failure. My body is ok and works fine. It is just these darn back legs.
I am taking a pain killer every day and that helps. Just wanted everyone to know that getting old is not fun.
