Arrival Story: My mom and dad found "Obi" hanging around their yard in the Summer of 2006. He was a very skinny stray back then and was obviously malnourished and lost. They took him in and scheduled a visit with the veterinarian, where he received his shots and a detailed examination. My parents then called me to see if my husband and I would adopt him. We had just lost our beloved Persian Mickey a month before and were considering getting another cat. My husband was reluctant at first, but then told me that it would be okay. After Obi received a good bill of health, I picked him up and took him to his new forever-home. He was so tiny and had expressive green eyes that really warmed my heart. We suspected that he was a Russian Blue, possibly mixed with Siamese (as there are several variations in that breed). He was such a lovable kitty and was so very affectionate and happy. Right away, he felt at home and explored his new surroundings. My husband, who was skeptical at first, immediately took to our new kitty. I told my husband that he could name him, so he gave him the name Obi-Wan, because he moved his paws like he was using the "force" (making air-biscuits). We shortened it to "Obi" because it fit his personality better. It took about two weeks for the other kitties to get acquainted and comfortable with this new visitor. Spot was wary of this new, excitable kitty at first, but now they are best buddies. Our older Persian females don't seem to mind his presence, but neither do they acknowledge him as an equal. LOL. Later, we found a website and discovered that in fact, he was a Nebelung, which is a rare breed (but is available in Mississippi). So, we believe that he is a pure-bred cat that got away from his owners. Even though my parents searched the neighborhood, they never found his real owner. However, we believe that it was fate and Obi was meant for us. He came to us when we were still grieving over Mickey and after my husband lost his job. He really has lifted our spirits and become a ray of sunshine to us.
