It was a very bad day

The other day mama cleaned the apartment. It started off well enough. I helped scrub the bathroom, sort clothes, and then wash dishes. I even volunteered to change sheets on the bed--my favorite part! But then mama did something horrible--she covered my windows!

She got out something called a "cordless drill" and some big pieces of material on a stick , and put it on the wall so that the material hung down. I couldn't believe it! What did I do to deserve this? She knows that my favorite spot is to lie on the back of the recliner and chatter at the mourning doves! Now I have to sit up on the window sill to do this. I can't sleep on it or I will fall off. Why mama, why?!

Mama did something even worse after this--she took out the big monster that lives in the bedroom closet. She says that it's to pick up the fur I shed. I don't understand at all. I hid under the bed while she used it, but when I sneaked out, it trapped me in the corner! I stared right into it's horrible glowing eye and swiped at it. I think it laughed at me. OK, so I don't have any claws, but I can still be pretty fierce. It eventually went back into the closet; I stayed away from mama for the rest of the day.

I don't think I like cleaning house.

A New Home for Me!

Hello everyone! This is my first entry!

Mama and I moved into our new apartment a month ago. She found a wonderful big space for me--it has a lot windows, trees outside, and best of all real, honest-to-goodness sunspots for me to bask in! She said that our other place was just too small for my bushy tail to be safe in. Isn't my mama wonderful?

Anyway, she brought home a lot boxes for me to play with, and then moving day came and the men came to take our stuff. I was in my carrier, or I would have flirted and gotten their numbers. I was finally let out at the other end where there were a bunch of kids to pet me and make sure I wasn't scared.

I wasn't scared, though! The first thing that I noticed was the huge tree outside of the livingroom window. (I also noticed a lot of d-o-g-s, but I don't discuss it).

I tried to help mama unpack things, but she kept taking me out of the boxes. I was only trying to be useful! I stopped after that and chattered at birds outside. That showed her!

Two days ago more men came to the house (something about a cable modem; I keep telling mama that wireless is the way to go, but she won't listen) and they sat on the floor and gave me scritches. I was so happy! I got their phone numbers too, to add to my little black book.

Mama considerately placed our recliner in front of the big window, so I can nap in the sun and watch the squirrels and birds. Mama mentioned that there's a fire station down the street. Maybe when I get up from my afternoon nap I'll go visit them....
