Arrival Story:
Once a month I volunteer w/Alley Cat Allies to help spay/neuter feral cats and kittens (aka TNR – trap-neuter-return). In July 2006 there was a tiny gray tabby kitten that was trapped. Usually other volunteers end up taking the kittens home to socialized them for adoption. But no one was planning on taking this little guy. He was so wee! I just couldn’t see him being return to the wild to fend for himself. His mom was trapped with him but as far as the trappers knew there were no siblings. So I made an executive decision to increase the size of our family. Chance makes kitty #5 (living). We decided to name him Chance Nickolas – Chance for us giving him a chance and him giving us a chance; and Nickolas because each feral cat gets its left ear nicked, (actually the top cut off) so if it is ever trapped again you can easily see that the cat has already been thru the process and the cat is released. Chance’s ear was already nicked by the time I saw him for the first time.

Bio:
Chance's nickname is Gator Baby because the first time I got to touch him he was playing with his back to me. I scritched his back and everything stopped - just like when you rub an alligator on the tummy. Also his mouth is always open when he's playing fierce - like gators do when sunning themselves. Of course if you hollar GATOR BABY he gets faster and more fierce!
