Arrival Story:
In May of 1994, a friend of mine had visited the Aurora Animal Shelter. She called me when she got home. She was practically in tears. "There's this poor, old, dirty white cat over there. Nobody will ever adopt him and they'll kill him", she told me. I only live a couple of blocks from the pound, so I went over to take a look. He was a little on the dirty side, but he wasn't old. I estimated him to be about two years old. He was so sweet. He crawled up and wrapped his arms around my neck. He had a purr like rolling thunder. I called him Sweet William. I told her what I found and she said she was going to adopt him. She adopted him the next day. It was only after she picked him up after neutering that I found out that she had no intention of keeping him. She was just going to take him to a no kill shelter. I didn't think that was fair at all, so I gave her what she had paid for his adoption and took him home. That was May 16, 1994.
