A Day in the Life of Snowflake

A Dominate Kitty Am I

I am Snowflake, Queen of the Quilt, Defender of the Realm. I am a benevolent ruler but have recently proven myself as a military queen. Mommy and Daddy brought two new kitties into my realm last spring. Before this tragic incident my mere presence was enough to keep the household in order, now I have become more militant.

In the past, I never growled and rarely hissed. I merely strutted my regal self by the window and the outdoor kitty from across the street would stop hissing at my sister Caly, running away from us in fear. A look from my noble countenance would cause Caly to back away from Mommy's lap as I have claimed that as my territory (I've peed on her twice, after all). Occasionally, Caly and I would hiss at each other, but what siblings don't. However, Caly makes a good sister, and I make a good queen.

Now a good queen shares her throne with no one, especially other kitties. Since Mommy and Daddy brought home Kepler and Maynrys in the spring, I have had to become less benevolent. I walk around more often in my elongated, aggressive strut. Regularly, I hiss and growl at Kepler as he nears me in length, though not girth - he does not have glorious fat pads like me that bounce in rhythmic beauty as I swagger across a room. Moreover, I must give Maynrys cursory bats on the head as I stand in what Mommy calls my fighting-lion-stance. I must continue to establish my dominance in order that the others know that a coup will never be successful against me.

Beware other kitties, I am benevolent but I am still an absolute monarch. I rule the house, I rule the quilt, and I rule that spot on Mommy's abdomen I like to sleep on at night. Show me fealty, show me deference, and never try to lick my ears - that is for Caly alone.

I was tagged by Kepler to list six things I don't like.

1. I don't like my brother Kepler even if he wants me to play games. He usually bites and scratches too hard when he plays causing me to have to remind him that I am the dominate kitty.

2. I don't like anyone else to sleep on Mommy's belly when she is sleeping. That's my spot. Nuff said!

3. I don't like Mommy to pet Maynrys. I become very jealous of her especially!

4. I don't like to fight. Normally, I control the house with an aggressive strut and my unusual grumble. However, if necessary, I will bob Kepler and Maynrys on the head or bully Caly out of the way, though I never swat at my beloved Caly.

5. I don't like being woken up from naps. I am a Grand Master of the Nap and, as such, can sleep longer than any kitty in the house. I become quite disgruntled if my nap is disturbed.

6. I don't like getting bathed. I am a pure white kitty. After awhile, I turn yellow, and Daddy gets the crazy notion that I need a bath. I've also been accused of not being the best self-groomer, but I call these suggestions just hints, lies and allegations.

A New Brother

It's been a week since my humans did something awful. Oh, they may tell you it's a good thing, something about giving homeless kitties a place to be live, but I know it's just awful. They brought a new cat home. They sectioned off a part of the house to separate him from my sister Caly and me, and they tried tricks like putting our food dishes on either side of a door and letting us sniff his scent off various items. However, I'm not buying any of it. I know he doesn't belong here not matter what my people do.

Believe it or not, the situation has been worsening. The door that keeps him sequestered has been opened for visitations!! What horror! Usually, I'm a pacifist - no growling and little hissing here. Now, I've been driven to defending my territory with awful sounds (he had the nerve to jump on my bed that I let Mommy and Daddy sleep on at night!). Luckily, the intruder doesn't hiss or swat back - Mommy says he just wants to play and cuddle, but I don't buy it. I am usually just such a laid back cuddle-kitty. I hate having to show that I'm the dominate kitty, but a cat's gotta do what a cat's gotta do.

I've Been Tagged by Brandy

I've been tagged by Brandy!

Here's how the game works. The kitty that is tagged, goes to their diary page and lists 7 facts about themselves. They then list 7 furriends and those kitties will list their 7 facts in their diaries, so that others can get to know a little about each of us.

After listing your facts about yourself, name the 7 kitties that you choose to tag. Don't forget to notify them by pawmail or by sending a rossette so that they know they've been tagged.

Here are 7 facts about me:

1. I am a mama's girl through and through!! I am jealous when she pays attention to my sister Caly. I will quietly, yet steadily muzzle my way in between Mommy and Caly. For this, I have earned the title of Secret Kitty Bully.

2. I have commanded Mommy's bed as my territory. My sister can climb into many places I can't, but one regal look from me keeps her off my... I mean, Mommy's bed. She forgets that I am H.R.H. Snowflake, Queen of the Quilt!

3. I believe that sleeping is an art form, and it is well known that I am a grand master of the nap.

4. I know when mommy's bedtime is and will begin to cry from the hallway if she stays up later than normal. Doesn't she know that I need to lay on her abdomen and purr my love in her ear before we go to sleep? I have a schedule to keep, people!

5. I am an odd-eyed, white kitty. Though, unlike many blue-eyed, white kitties, I'm not deaf in my ear by my blue eye.

6. Mommy and Daddy think I have a visual impairment that prevents me from being very athletic. I won't jump on to small places and have a difficult time with some cat toys. Fast-moving things scare me, especially if they are multicolored.

7. I am a lover of peace. I hate loud noises. Behaviorally, I rarely hiss and have only made that awful growling noise once. Hey, it was at the cat clinic! I was really scared. Mommy sometimes calls me Snowflake de la Paz, Lover of Peace.

The kitties I'm tagging are as follows. I know that I'm short two of seven, but time's running short for Mommy this evening. One is a dog, too, but he is so beautiful, I had to include him in this cat game!
