Arrival Story:
I found Austin at the city pound in early January, 2007, when I was looking for Simon. He was just so beautiful and so sweet, I thought Duchess might like to have him be a playmate since Simon still isn't home. I also thought surely somebody is missing him, and I'm trying to find his original family. I can tell he really misses them, and that he's used to being a house kitty. If I don't find his family for him, of course he has a family here full of love for him. He is really tolerant of Duchess' kitten antics and the doxies' curiousity.

Austin has white boots on his hind legs, and his front toes look like they've been dipped in white paint! He keeps going to the doors and windows and meowing when it's dark, like he's used to going outside.

Feb. 2007:
Well, this seems to be Austin's new home. He's adjusting well and is just as loveable as he can be. He would love to get outside with the beasties and chase some squirrels, but he's still on probation. Be sure to check out his diary!

PURRR! I've been here for a month now, and, I gotta tell ya, it's not too bad! Being with this new family sure beats the furballs out of a jail cell at the pound! I still miss my previous family, and wonder why this new mom keeps calling me "Austin", though. Guess I'll get used to it.

My new mom says I'm a probie and can't go outside, but I've been finding plenty to entertain myself with. Simon had the right idea about the clothes dryer. I've claimed the top of it as a great place to sun, nap, and watch the birds and squirrels. Plus, my new mom has this red cabinet thing with shelves hanging over the dryer. I quickly figured out that's where she hides the extra catnip! One night, while Mom and the Beasties were asleep I got the catnip out, and Duchess helped me scatter it all over the kitchen...mmmmmmmm....goood!

A couple of nights ago, I caused all kinds of commotion by getting up on the top shelf. It's really close to the ceiling, so I could swat at a dust bunny and a spider. I figure I can help clean house that way! I had to be careful not to knock down the sea shells she has up there...that wouldn't have been a good thing to do.

Duchess and the Beasties still get on my nerves, but they'll learn. Just like Duchess did the first time Mom went to work and left us all alone. I had a little discussion with Duchess, and she now understands it's not nice to hiss and spike me. When she's minding her manners, I even let her curl up in the same bed for a nap with me. (Mom says we have more furniture than she does! Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?!)

Duchess and I even have our own room--well, sort of. We let Mom keep her computer and work stuff in here. But we have three windows with nice views of the jungle in here.

Some of my favorite activities are drinking from the toilet (I taught Duchess how to do this without getting all the way in.), getting in the bathtub after Mom's bath to get leftover water from the drain and catch any drips, and making biscuits. I'm quite the kneader! A Purrrince has to have his bedding just so, ya know.

Oh, I almost forgot my most special talent. Mom still can't believe it. I can suck in my cheeks, purse my lips, and chatter like a squirrel! How cool is that?!

Gotta go bop the feather ball now. Purrrs to ya later,
The Prince of Austin Reigns Over This House!
