Arrival Story:
Many of you got to know the story of the cat that became a campaign supporter. Some do not. I have to share this story as it is so close to our family and my heart.
Shadow, as he became to be known as, followed me one day all over Downtown Kennebunk, September 2nd to be exact. He followed me and meowed at me for almost a mile as I was passing out campaign materials.
After looking for his owner, I went to leave and hoped he would find his way home, instead he jumped in my car. I decided to take Shadow home to face not only 3 other kitties, but my family. I rationalized that it was alright since I was a volunteer at Animal Welfare Society, we would surely find his home. After many flyers, phone calls, and visitors; he finally became part of our family.
Shadow was not in the best of shape, but we tried to nurse him back to health. He did not make it, he passed away December 1st in the morning.
Most people know our family and some do not. With all the losses of family members, friends, and other tragedies in our lives and the world, little Shadow struck us hard. I think mostly me. Why would such a little guy have such an impact?
I am thankful to say that Shadow's last few months were happy and he will always share a place in my heart.
