Arrival Story:
After adopting my cat Eclair in June of 2006 I wondered if she would like a playmate. It took me 6 months to make up my mind and casually start looking again at PetFinder.com. I found a rescue organization that hadn't been listed before which was nearer to my home...and there was the picture of the sweetest looking cat described as an oriental shorthair who had been abandoned on their doorstep with her two young kittens. So I began the process of contacting the shelter to meet "Topaz". But the day I was supposed to go I got sick with bronchitis and could not get to the shelter. I feared someone might adopt her before I could get to her. After a phone call with one of the ladies who runs the shelter we arranged for me to stop by on a day they are not normally open. It took a bit before Topaz warmed up even a little, I was worried that she'd never be as affectionate as Eclair. I almost adopted a younger male cat who was very friendly but something about Topaz made me want to take her home and see what would happen. It was only a few hours and she was warming up to me, not crouching away in fear as she had in her kennel. She loves to be stroked, she purrs very loudly! She even let me pick her up and hold her for a short while. She's still not too thrilled with her sister Eclair but we're hoping she will settle down and be a good friend to Eclair too. I rechristened her Tiramisu because she is as sweet as Eclair even if a little shy right now.

Bio:
Tira is about 1 1/2 years old and was abandoned with her two kittens at the Terryville ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) in Terryville, CT. She was a good mother to her kittens who were recently adopted and then it was time to find mama kitty a forever home.

I spent my furst nite in my noo home and it wuznt too bad. I had a rume all to mysef an a dish of fud, watur an a littur box. The hewmun hoo brawt me heer wuz nice to me an I got mor comfurtabul wif her as the eevnin wint on. I let her pet me an I purrrd reel lowd. She's not so skaree afturall. But thair is this uthur cat hoo's blak an biggur then me an I'm no too shoor abowt her yet. She's been nice enuff to me but win she gits too cloze I cant help mysef an I hiss. I'll just haf to keep an eye on her for awhyel befor I git too cloze.

So this mornin the hewmun brawt me a dish of stinkee gudniss but I wuz too nurvus to eet. She left the door to my rume opin so I did venchur owt an chekked owt a cuppul uthur rumes. but then that big cat got too cloze to me an I got skeerd an ran bak to my rume.
