Arrival Story:
My owner had wanted a Russian Blue for some time, and her boyfriend agreed to buy her one as a college graduation present. She researched breeders online and found one that she really liked, based in Apple Valley, California. They drove a few hours to pick me up and named me Laika, after the Russian space dog. Laika means "barker", which refers to the way I howled when I first came home, and it is also the name of a song by The Arcade Fire, one of my owner's current favorite bands. When I first came home, I wanted nothing to do with my new parents! I hid for a week, and it took two for me to come out with bribes of food. Finally, after three weeks, I decided that I loved my owners and now I am the sweetest and most affectionate cat they have ever known.

I am my owner's first purebred cat, and she is interested in showing me if I get more comfortable around strangers.
