Arrival Story: Dex was first rescued by a woman with over 100 cats, who then was run out of town by animal control. She set up shop elsewhere and soon was in trouble again with too many cats and being evicted. A young couple then set up a rescue of about 60 cats from this woman. One of them was poor Dex. The young couple left her behind, when they themselves were evicted. I was afraid they might leave animals behind and happened to go up when they'd arrived to get more of their things. I walked in on a very ugly scene. They'd left Dex behind all right, and were going to take her, but had pulled her out from under the hot water heater by a rope tied in a slip knot around her throat. She was wild with fright and choking to death. I quickly put her in a carrier and said "She's coming with me." She's been here ever since. She's now shy of strangers and absolutely panics if closed into a small area. She loves to sit on my lap and drools excessively with delight when petted.
