Went to rent a video one day in May 1993. Someone in the parking lot was giving away free kittens. I'm sorry I took only one.
Bio:
May, 1993: Went to rent a video, and came home with a brown-and-orange tabby female kitten. "Pepper," we called her. She was part of the family when our oldest child was not quite six months old, before we even imagined there would one day be another child. Sitting in the recliner, if I felt a paw touch the back of my wrist, I knew who it was without looking. Even three nights ago, she met me at the door when I got home from work at 3 o'clock in the morning. As usual. Looking for that late night snack, a hug and words of love. As usual. Despite advanced age, she would still jump onto the bed. Today, after eighteen-and-a-half years, Pep lives only in our memories. Vaya con Dios, sweetie. August 10, 2011.
