Arrival Story:
Weeble lives at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. We sponsored Weeble in memory of our friend Bubbie, who left for the Rainbow Bridge on December 19th. Bubbie was a very special cat and Weeble is a very special NEEDS cat! We think Bubbie would feel good about helping her. Here is her story:

Bio:
Weeble got her name because of her severe neurological condition. When she's trying to sit still, she often seems to bob or dance in place. When she tries to walk, her feet go all over the place, and as a result, she often sticks close to the walls in case she falls. But Weeble is an angel. It absolutely warms her heart when someone approaches and pets her. She is soft as a baby. Give her just a little bit of tenderness, and you'll see the love fill her eyes. It's hard for her, but she's always trying to reach out. She's extremely gentle. She was born in 1993 without good motor coordination. She is also incontinent. She used to have a family, but the family gave her up because they had a new child and having Weeble was "like having a second child". Because of her twitching, they described her as "a messy eater". She often knocked things over by accident in her attempts to walk. And though she tried very hard with the continence issue, often making it through the kitty door in time, just as often, she didn't make it. So they gave her up. Weeble now lives here at Best Friends, and we're happy to have her! We still have hope that she might some day find a family.

Gone to the Rainbow Bridge

On February 23, I received the following email from Best Friends Animal Society:

Dear Friend of Weeble,

We're sorry to let you know that Weeble the cat has passed away. Her system shut down, and was no longer able to support her. At age 14, it was her time to go. She was surrounded by much love as she made her way over the Bridge.

We're very sad to lose her. As her sponsor, you know Weeble was a very special cat. She had her neurological issues, which meant she didn't get around as well as a normal cat. However, her heart more than made up for the mis-wiring in her head. She had such a sweet, gentle nature, and gave love freely. She will be sorely missed by all. But she was so lucky to have had a friend like you. And to have lived such a good long life, where she was beloved by all who met her.

There are many other animals with special needs, just like Weeble, who would love to have a sponsor like she had. So please take a moment to meet with a few of them. (Your sponsorship donation is, of course, still good for whomever you choose.) Please follow the link at the bottom of the page to choose another animal.

Thank you for caring, and good wishes from all of us at Best Friends.

We are now sponsoring one of Weeble's very good friends from the Sanctuary, Audrey in memory of both Weeble and Bubbie.

By the way, Weeble updates us from the Bridge that she is having a splendid time, RUNNING everywhere and that she and Bubbie have had a picnic together and plan to have more. She has lots of very good friends there, but sends her love to all of her friends back here on earth, especially to Audrey.

I was sponsored in memory of Terrific Tabby, Bubbie. Bubbie left for the Rainbow Bridge on December 19th, after a short illness. He was only 3 years old. He was much loved and I thank his friends for honoring him by sponsoring me.

Please visit the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary website at www.bestfriends.org to learn about this organization and how you can help and/or adopt animals in need. It's not just dogs and cats, but birds, barn yard animals, bunnies, wildlife and others. It is a wonderful organization that helps many animals across the country.

I sure would like to have a home! I've been waiting for that special family to come along, who will love me and be patient with me, in spite of my condition.
