We have visitors! And we need help!
One of the strays my grandma feeds brought her kittens to our house Saturday night.
But the thing is...she hid them in my mom's car. See, where the strays live, there's a highway department repair shop, and there are lots of old junk cars that never move. So the mommy kitty thought her babies were safe in my mom's car.
This morning, my grandma went out to move cars so my mommy could get to the cat food money place. My grandma got all the kitties out of the engine, but somehow, one of them got back in, and Grandma didn't know it. She only moved the car a little bit, but one of the kittens got hurt.
My grandma rushed it to the vet, and the good news is...the vet thinks it has a chance. They're going to treat it for 48 hours and see how it responds to treatment. She said kittens are very resilient and she thinks it MIGHT recover. We are all purring like mad that the kitten survives, and we would really appurrciate it if you would all purr hard for it, too.
My mommy's bestie suggested we name it Crash. We think it's a cute name and it's kind of sticking...but what do you kitties think? Is that too sad to name it that? (I am meowing about humans who came up with the name Sunday after all. MOL)
Anyway, the injured kitten has three fursibs. My grandma brought them in the house and has them stashed safely in the bathroom. They are eating and drinking very Sawyer-like, and they are using the litter box!
BUT, two of them, the grey ones, are purry wild! One of them in particular goes beserk when Mommy or Grandma try to hold it.
So do you guys have any advice on how to socialize a kitten...FAST? See, we actually have furever home offers for two of the kittens, but one of the humans who wants one wants to come see it soon. My grandma is worried about that because she's afraid if they see how wild it is, they probably won't want to take it home.
The kittens are just terrified, not mean, and we really want them to feel at home and safe soon.
Meanwhile, the mommy kitty has been outside crying for her babies, and it's breaking my mom's heart. My mommy and grandma are purry upset about the injured kitten and about the mommy who doesn't know what happened to her babies. My poor grandma feels so bad, and my mommy is all leaky. They kept assuring the mommy cat they have the kittens, and they're going to be OK, but still...my mommy is a mess worrying about it all.
So please purr for this whole situation.
And please, please, please keep fighting the good Spay/Neuter fight!
