One Year Old Today

Yippee! It's my birthday and Mom says there may be extra treats for me and my siblings today! As long as they don't use the treats to trick us into our room, I'm cool with it. I'd settle for extra petting though. And for sitting in the window, bird watching. Ooh...I think I see one now....

From Wild Little Thing to Lap Kitty

Mom hasn't updated my diary lately so I meowed at her this morning as a reminder. It's amazing that I've gone from being a scared little kitty to a complete lap cat in just a couple of months. I LOVE laying in Mom's lap and getting petted. I don't even mind being picked up. Mom says I'm more easy-going than our older sister, Calla. But I'm also mischievous. I like to swat at the plants, and attack Jack whenever possible. I can't be "too" good...otherwise I may not get enough attention. :-)

The best news is that Mom and Dad have decided to keep me and Jack. Yeah! Calla isn't happy about it, but we love it here. And Jack's my best friend so I can't imagine not being around my big brother.

Visitors!

Tonight was an exciting night. I came out in to the TV room for a while and the dog was there. Normally Mom and Dad keep him out while we're exploring so we won't be scared, but Dad wants us to get used to being around dogs. I'm not as afraid as my siblings, so I ventured out. Then I darted into the kitchen for a snoop. McFly, the dog, followed me so I swiped at him once for good measure and he backed off. Big chicken.

I wasn't back in our room for too long when the doorbell rang and four people along with Mom and Dad were watching us. I was being shy though and didn't want to come out, even when Mom brought us food. Mom's parents and her Aunt and Uncle (whose back yard we were living in) came to see us. I think we might be famous. Dad keeps taking a billion pictures of us and they all ooh-and-aah over us. Being a celebrity is hard work. It's time for a nap.

Exploring Rocks!

Yesterday Mom let us explore the TV room! Jack and I were very curious and walked all around the edges, behind the armoire, chair and ottoman. Then I walked behind the couch which was awesome! There are so many places to explore but Mom thought we should try one room at a time. Marley was too scared to explore but she's getting better. Jack is very protective of us. Dad walked into the laundry room where Marley was still hiding and Jack went back to the laundry room so she wouldn't be scared. Mom hopes we can be kept in the same cage at the vet when we get fixed. Jack gets to come home the same day so he won't be happy without us! Mom said he gets extra treats though for being brave.

Such a tease

I think Dad was jealous that I'd only let Mom pet me, so I had to tease him a little bit. He spent a lot of time with us last night and gave us treats! He knows a way to a girl cat's heart. So, I relented and let him pet me. He's a good Dad.

This morning Mom played with us with the cat tease toy and gave us yummy food! I slinked over for petting attention. We have these humans right where we want them!

This petting stuff rocks!

Mom can't believe I'm the same scared kitty who came to live with her two weeks ago. Now I'm the most cuddliest kitty of my siblings. I love to be petted by Mom, and roll around on the floor to get attention. I'm not quite there yet with Dad, but he's louder than Mom so I get scared.

This morning I tried to sneak into the TV room when Mom opened the door to our room. Jack tried too but she shooed us back in. Jack and Marley still hiss - I don't know why but that just means more attention for me!

Mom went to try to catch our remaining sibling again. No luck. He keeps hiding under the car.

Please play with me!

I love to play! I had no idea an indoor life was this fun. Mom has given us toys, made a scratch post for us, and gives us treats. I am really curious about what's behind that door she and Dad always come through. Jack and I are getting used to our human parents. Ally is still really shy.

Jack likes to sleep a lot but I'd much rather play with Mom and the toys on a string. I come out every morning when Mom comes in to feed us and Jack and I sniff her fingers. Dad sometimes forgets that we're in here though and will scare us when he comes in too fast. He calls us the "stinky poopers," but we don't mind as long as he has treats!
