Arrival Story: I had to stop at a house near where my parents lived and they were about to take Sasha out and kill her for scratching one of them. I took Sasha immediately. She was pretty scared and I had to wrap her inside a blanket so she wouldn't bite or scratch me. I found out later that she had been dumped several times by her previous owners and who knows what any of them had done to her. I actually had to keep a leash on her in the beginning so I could pull her off me when she attacked! I believed she was in a defense mode to protect herslf from what she saw as a threat. She would only come downstairs at night time when everyone was sleeping. After 7 months I was getting really worried about what to do with her as she didn't seem to change. I had to leave for 2 weeks so my parents watched her. They never saw her the entire 2 weeks! She was upstairs in one of 2 bedrooms and no one could find a 20 lb. cat. She was eating her food and using the litter tray so they knew she was there somewhere. Then the miracle - I returned home from my trip and when she heard my car pull into the driveway, she ran down the stairs and met me at the door! That is what I call the moment I knew she was trying to be accepted. She was 10 years old when I rescued her and she lived another 10 1/2 years.

Bio: I miss how she used to crawl under the covers and sleep by my side at bedtime. When I moved into another apartment I left her to last to make sure she would be safe. When I returned to pick her up I found her hiding inside one of the kitchen cabinets, scared. When I got to the new apartment, she understood that I had returned for her because she ran around the apartment, came back to me and rubbed against me purring like everything. I swear if a cat ever smiled at that moment, Sasha did! I think she thought she was going to be dumped again. It took some time but Sasha finally knew she would not be hurt or left again and that she had her forever home where she would be loved and cared for. she became very loving. My poor Sasha passed away while I was at work one day and I was devastated when I found her in my bedroom. Careforme and Tearineye were little kittens then and they were so afraid. I had her cremated and have her ashes with me. I will see you again at Rainbow Bridge my precious baby. I wrote a special poem for her.
To Sasha
Searching the night with penetrating eyes,
Always your feline wonder dignifies,
Skies of August and deep thoughts unspoken.
Hurrying on hushed feet, gracefully you leap,
And beside me with eyes of cat dreams, you sleep.
