Arrival Story:
Hannalee is a patched tabby and so unique looking. In 2005 I was feeding a number of feral cats at the barn when Hannalee showed up. I named one Hanna and the other Hannalee so when I called them that I had food they would both likely respond. Near the end of June Hannalee showed up with 3 kittens about 8 weeks old. That is when the rescue started because I didn't want the kittens have to endure the tough life of a feral cat.

Bio:
I would sit nearby while they ate. She was very watchful but I would close my eyes and then open them. Within days she was closing her eyes and laying down while the kittens played. I borrowed a Hava-hart trap and trapped each one and brought them into the house. I had Hannalee spayed and brought her home. After 10 days I opened the window so she could leave. She left and within hours she came back. The bad thing was that she usually came back with live mice and let them go in the house for the kittens to catch! I was feeding the kittens one night and thought I heard the scrampering of many feet across the livingroom floor. I turned and 3 cats were after a mouse and the poor mouse made a fatal decision. He jumped through the baby gate to the kitchen and right into the mouth of Mikhah, a Siberian Husky/German Shepherd! He never had a chance. Hannalee had to make a decision, stay and become a housecat or leave the house and return to the wild. She choose to become a housecat and stay with her kittens. I have tried over the past two years to tame her, but she remains aloof. She doesn't want to leave the house but she still won't let me touch her. Sadly, Hannalee passed away in the night on 8/19/2008. I don't really know how old she was but because of her maturity the vet and I thought at least 2 or 3 years old but she could have been older. I gave her 2 years from the day I rescued her on July 3, 2005. I noticed she wasn't feeling well and wasn't eating or playing and made a vet appointment. She passed away before the appointment. Hannalee was one of my very favorite cats of all time. She was gentle and loving to all the other cats and especially her kittens, Malachi, Nikki and Abbie. She was a perfect mother and nutured Suki Miya when she first arrived and she just loved Matai to no end. When she didn't come for breakfast and I noticed she wasn't in her bed, I searched for her and found her in her favorite hiding place behind the drawers of the bed storage unit. She passed away under my bed during the night. It has been 3 weeks and her kittens still miss her. Malachi rarely comes out, Abbie hides in the cat room and Nikki sits on the back of the loveseat with her front paws on either the window or on top of the air conditioner and just watches outside the window day and night. I believe she is looking for Hannalee and wondering where she is. All of the cats have stopped playing at night and just lay around and sleep. Hannalee was quiet and I never knew that she was the one who got everyone involved. She was the silent prompter of games. Matai misses her as much as her kittens and me. I really miss the way she looked for Matai, the way Abbie would always come out and they would wrap their tails around each other before they played and had their bedtime treats. All is quiet here at night and oh, so lonely without you Hannalee. You will be greatly missed my precious one. I love you Hannalee. A dear friend had a memory stone painted of Hannalee showing one of my favorite Bible verses Revelations 5:13 which a painting of Hannalee. It is far more beautiful than it could ever show in a photo. I will treasure this Christmas present for as long as I live. My precious Hannalee.
