Life in the Truan House

A Sad Loss

I am so sad to report that it has finally happened. I have lost my one truly unique feature that set me apart from the other black Truan cats. I have lost all my white whiskers! I had four when Mommy and Daddy brought me home, but one by one they have fallen out, and I have lost my distinct "mustache" look that made me so very very cute. I was told that when my sister Spider was a kitten, she also had two white whiskers, but after they fell out, they never grew back white. So, I am certain I will be relegated to the ranks of my brother and sisters who are simply all black. Not bad company to be in, but I sure liked my Mom telling everyone "Maarten's the one with the Fu Manchu!"

My New Family

I spent the first few months of my life at a rescue shelter, along with General. And now we are in our new home and enjoying life with our new family. Unlike General, who is hyper and has bonded with our rough-and-tumble new big brother Romeo, I am still shy around the other kitties. I am quiet, like my new big sister Spider, and I like to hang back and watch rather than participate. But I love to cuddle with my new Mommy, and she loves to have me in her lap. I am still the smallest of the kitties, and sometimes General pounces on me and wants to wrestle. But oldest sister Hairy usually jumps in and breaks us up when she thinks it's getting too rough. Mommy thinks I am the sweetest kitty ever and she likes it that I just want to crawl up on the couch and curl up next to her. I like it, too.
