Arrival Story: Last August I was involved with a feral cat rescue and I caught Jonnie. I volunteered to take 4 of the ferals we trapped and Cats for Habitat made me a Caretaker of them. The feral cats were spayed, given their shots, and had the tip of their left ear clipped and released to me.

Bio: Jonnie and Emmie are two of the four ferals I am caretaker of. The other two, Hanna and Jessie, chose to not stay at the barn but they come at night time to sleep with Emmie and eat. Jessie is extremely shy. Emmie and Jonnie worked out an arrangement between them. Emmie has the east side of the barn and Jonnie has the west. Then Emmie claimed both sides of the barn, so Jonnie claimed the front porch. I finished it off for her and put in a cat door for her. Emmie may claim the barn, but Jonnie claims the property! What this means is when I feed them I have to stay so Jonnie can eat. Tried to feed her on the porch but then she races to the barn to get more. They both will run to me as soon as they see me with their tails straight up. It took about a month to be able to touch Jonnie. She would watch me pet Emmie and then finally Emmie jumped on my lap. Jonnie would watch very intently. I bought some cat dancers and would play with both of them and slowly Jonnie started to let me pet her and finally to hold her. When I am going to the barn or the field I have to watch very closely because Jonnie will literally throw herself in front of my feet and lay on her back for me to rub her tummy. I have come close to stepping on her a couple of times because she throws herself right in front of my feet. Any time I am outside Emmie and Jonnie are with me despite the weather. They let me brush them and everything now. Jonnie is very playful and loves attention. I should add that Jonnie is notorious for stealing Emmie's catches of mice and moles. Emmie lines her catches of rodents next to her dishes, or on the feeding platform or sometimes on the walkway in front of her entrance so I can see the wonderful gifts she has gotten. Jonnie will look them over, grab one and run with it. They probably have figured out after I thank them for the gifts, I bury them.
