Arrival Story: Tong Po was born on November 21, 1992. My husband and I were taking care of the cattery while the owner was out of town. This darling little Birman kitten kept calling to us from one of the cages. He climbed the screen to make sure he was noticed. Glenn opened the cage and started petting him. Before we left that day, I put a little hot pink hair tie around his neck so I could identify him. I told the cattery owner when she returned home that I wanted to purchase him. I wanted him to have an Asian name. My husband likes to watch martial arts films. He had rented the movie 'Kick Boxer' starring Jean Claude Van Damme. The villain in the film was named Tong Po. He was anything but fluffy and cute like my kitten, but I really liked the name. I had a female Birman named Myingyan. My husband said I should name my cats something with one syllable, like Spike. Tong Po was the sauciest little kitten. He was so much fun. He grew into a beautiful cat. Tong Po's Mother, Onya joined our family when she was 10 years old and lived the remainder of her life with us.
