Arrival Story:
I adopted her from the RSPCA's Mangere Animal Village after a decent period of mourning for my previous cat Rose had elapsed. I chose her partly because I'd had a dream in which I pulled a little grey kitten out of our pool and the late Rose showed approval of it.

Bio:
Meg was a very sick kitten shortly after I got her - while in the RSPCA's care she had 'snuffles,' a nasty little respiratory tract infection, but seemed to be better, so they offered her for adoption. A couple of weeks after coming home she had a relapse. Snuffles caused her nose to be blocked with thick mucus, and as a result she wouldn't eat or drink (cats often refuse to eat or drink anything they can't smell). We managed to keep her going by squirting special fortified cat milk down her throat with an eyedropper until her immune system rallied enough to fight off the infection (the vet also gave her antibiotics, although I think it was really a viral illness). It was awfully sad and worrying, especially since she went from a very lively, cheerful kitten to one who just sat still looking sad. We all tried to show her extra love so that in case her life wasn't very long, it would at least have been comfortable and happy. I think this is why she now assumes that everyone in the world loves her! Meg has a history of a weird mystery ailment in which her tail... stops working. It becomes paralysed and hangs limply from her bum, which affects her balance so that she can't jump or climb. This has happened two separate times, for a period of weeks, and despite thorough examinations and X-rays the vet couldn't find out why it was. Both times it mysteriously got better by itself. Apart from this, she is a very sturdy, cheerful, active cat. Until the little boy next door started school and met more children his own age, she was his best friend and he referred to our house as 'Meggie's house' and our cars as 'Meggie's cars'! She still plays almost every day with the kids in our street, and is a regular visitor to our neighbours' houses (sometimes not so welcome - one woman got a fright when she woke up in the middle of the night to find Meg snuggling up on her pillow). When there's a street party in the summer she is thrilled and trots from group to group introducing all her friends to each other. When we go away on holiday, the family next door feed her, and if she gets bored in the evening she just goes to their house and watches TV with them. She pretty much single-handedly gave our other cat Robin a nervous breakdown, changing her personality for life.
