Dear Heather,

I came home from my trip today and you were not here. I am so used to your presence in the house. Being a cat, you were not one to jump all over me, but just rub your head gently against my legs and headbonk against me. When I'd sit down, you'd come up for a cuddle. You warmed my lap. You took my desk chair and I had to move you, but you heated it for me too. I miss your little face waiting for dinner around this hour, impatient for the good stuff you got in the evening.

The hospital sent home your ashes and your paw prints in a plaque. I am so lucky to have this from you. I don't know how I am going to move on without you. You were such a presence yet so quiet and dignified that you just melded into what we did and where we went.

You sister dog Sienna is not the same, nor is your cat brother Foucault. They feel your loss as you were a friend to them. Beside your sister to cuddle, beside Foucault to chase or beg for food.

For so long we lived with you and each day I grew to love you even more. I will miss you so much.

love your mom

rainbow bridge message

This is Heather's human mom, Aimee.

Last night I had a dream. All the animals I've ever loved were at this house and wonderful garden. My dogs from childhood were there, and Zuki and other dogs I've known and some I haven't. Even a sheep and I goat I think. Then I went into the house and opened the attic door. Out came all the cats. I thought "oh they really aren't gone, they were just stuck here in the attic" Out came Heather and Sami and some others. Then I started looking for Sienna and Ellie and thought I may have seen them but they never came up to me. Only the ones who had passed were there. Maybe it was a special trip to the rainbow bridge. It felt like such a special place and all the animals were in peace. What a pleasure to see it. Thank you Heather for showing me you are Ok and with you friends. You always loved other cats and dogs so much. At first more than people.

Heather died last night. Yesterday morning she was on the bathroom floor when my husband woke up. She was unable to move her back legs. He took her to the emergency vet. She had heart problems and a blood clot. The prognosis was not good. Three vets said that probably the best thing to do was put her to sleep. My husband saw her last night and after talking to the vet, wanted to give it a full 24 hours to see how she was doing. She seemed out of pain and loving the visit with him. In the night he got a call that her body temperature dropped and she died. Probably a blood clot in the brain.

This all happened so fast. We know she is now with her dog brother Zuki at the bridge and they were buddies. Life will not be the same without her. She loved being on my lap, getting pets and combs, giving headbonks, cuddling with Sienna, chasing with Foucault, licking catnip, and sleeping right by my pillow. We are grateful she did not have a prolonged illness. She had a good life during the time she was with us. We appreciate all the time we had with her. She taught many people to not give up on feral cats, they can come around and can learn to love people instead of fear them.

Goodbye Heather, we will miss you. Please give Zuki a kiss for me.

my dog brother is gone

Dearest cats,

My dog brother Zuki is gone. It is a huge loss to our family. I have been really close to him lately. We had a vet trip together about a month ago. It was my annual but Zuki needed a check-up on an infection. I was happy to share my time with him.

I also spent a lot of time next to him on his bed. He needed my kitty love. The last night he was on earth, Mom and Dad made a big bed in the living room since he couldn't go upstairs and was too worn out even being carried. In the early morning I purred up next to him and licked his ear. I cozied for awhile. I wanted him to know how much I loved him.

I was only the second cat he didn't chase. I think I taught him a lot about how to respect cats.

I am getting older and I know I will see him again at the rainbow bridge. Right now my job is to comfort mom and dad. I have been cuddling lots, it's what I do best.

Purrs,
Heather

Hi everycat.

I know I don't write too much. It's because I'm usually too busy napping, eating, or snuggling with my mom or sister Sienna. But I had a pretty exciting day yesterday. Zuki the dog and I went to the vet together. I went because I've been coughing a lot. Well the vet wasn't sure exactly what caused it. Could be herpes or bronchitis or asthma. Mom and Dad changed the little to dust-free first to see if that helps. I hope it does! I also get to have some Lysine in wet food which is delicious! Yummy me. Not too much though because I've gained weight *blushes*. The lady loves her food!

Happy Valentine's Day. I'm a swinging single and happy to be!

love Lady Heather

merry christmas

Hey everycat,

Well it's been almost 2 months and my cat brother doesn't seem to be moving out. But it's ok because he knows who's boss. I got him to stop eating out of my food bowl. But he does eat out of the dog's bowl. He even sneaks out of the human's bowls when they are cooking! Good grief.

I had a pretty good Christmas. I got a cat dancer which I love and I will not let the little guy play with it if I want it. I snuggled lots with mom (see my pics). I also snuggled with my dog brother Zuki. Then I took a long nap in my cat condo.

Mom says I do not need to be on such a strict diet now that I am getting more exercise. You mean chasing the little twerp around? Yeah, I keep him in line. It's a hard job but somebody's gotta do it. The good news is that he does a lot of begging, like for the morning breakfast. My old routine was to sneeze in mom's face and wake her up. Now he pounces on her and seems to get her going. He blocks her path to the bathroom so she can't forget about us. Two pathetic begging faces are sure better than one!

Ok, off for my 23rd nap of the day. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

headbonks,
Lady H

Me and my new cat brother Foucault shared a meal together. He got fed and I wanted to eat out of the same bowl even though I had a bowl in my area. We shared a feast! We are good friends now. It's like the Native Americans and Pilgrims coming together; except we are both tabbies. Wishing you all the best that thanksgiving has to offer.

Meows,
Lady H
ps: my sister dog Sienna cleaned the bowl.

Oh hello everycat!

Sorry I have not written in awhile. See I've been pretty busy with organizing my catnip toys, getting into the attic, and cuddling with my sister cat. But, now, I have new for you! I might be getting a brother! My mom and dad keep coming home smelling like another cat. And there's whispers of getting me a pal so I stop "pestering Sienna". So what if I pester my sister? But, I sure would like a friend. Cross your paws that it works out for me!

Hey kitties, My pals Pocono, Sir Mystery Max, and Gracie Mae tagged me.

The rules:
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write on their own blog about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

My Seven Random Facts:

1. I like tofurkey!

2. Sometimes I drool.

3. I have a special bed just for me, but I also like dog beds.

4. I used to have 99 cat siblings, but mom said that was not a good thing.

5. I love catnip!!!

6. I'm in love with Johnny Depp. My cat sitter watches 21 jump street with me.

7. I like to climb the roof in my spare time.
