Arrival Story:
I adopted Vesper from the Larimer County Humane Society. Her previous owner had moved from a rental house and left her there without food and water. There were two other kittens with her. One was dead and I adopted the other along with Vesper.

Update 12/01/06 5:00 pm I took Vesper to the Vet this afternoon. She hasn't been herself. She hasn't acted like she was sick, but I could tell something wasn't right. I thought I would take her in and get a blood panel done instead of sitting and speculating. She had one great big lumpy kidney and the blood work revealed pretty severe kidney disease. I've had them like that before and was able to give them quite a bit more quality life. I asked him to put her on an IV and wash those uremic toxins out and then I would continue treating at home. He put in a catheter and started the drip and was in the process of putting a splint on when she threw her head back and let out a cry. "What's this?" he said. "She's dying" I replied. A minute later, she was gone. About all it could have been is a heart attack. He certainly did nothing to cause it. Perhaps the fluid broke a clot loose somewhere and sent it into the heart. Her days were obviously numbered, but I sure didn't plan to lose her today.
