Leave a treat for Joey 1993 ~ 2009

Nicknames: Registered name is Fanceey Furs Just Joey

Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: April 6th 1993
 Coloration: Red

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: Joey was born on April 6, 1993. I purchased him from the breeder when he was 8 weeks old. He was Deja Vu's first born. His Father was GC Charmyr Ebony Echo who was leased from another cattery. Joey was a litter of one. That's why I named him Just Joey. Just Joey was also the name of a peach colored hybrid tea rose that I grew.

Bio: There was an article in the Cat Fancier's Almanac about award winning Persians of the past. I couldn't get over how much Joey looked like the famous GC NW Prim-Pet Yankee Doodle Dandy, DM.
I showed the picture to Joey and said "see if you had been born 30 years ago, you could have been a Grand Champion". I was looking at Joey's pedigree one day and discovered that Yankee was Joey's Great Great Grandfather a couple of times over. Small world! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In 1997, we had an epidemic of bordetella go through our household. It passed through most of the cats pretty uneventfully. They would start coughing, I'd start them on doxycycline, and a few days later they were fine. One of the greatest dangers of bordetella in cats is that some infected individuals will be asymptomatic and end up with walking pneumonia. That's what happened to Joey. I didn't know he was sick until he tried to come when I called him and he went down on his belly liked a beached whale. His temperature was 105, his heartrate was rapid, and he was syncopic. I rushed to the car with a fainting Joey under my arm and off we went for a chest xray. He did have pneumonia, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise because we discovered that he had an enlarged heart. He'd never had a symptom of heart disease. If we hadn't discovered it and started him on medication, his first and only symptom would probably have been his sudden death. He's still doing ok almost 10 years later.
