Arrival Story:
On Halloween evening, 2006, Mommy was sitting outside handing out candy. I strolled right up the front walk, past a lady and her little boy, and went straight to Mommy. I started purring loudly and rubbing against her leg. Mommy said to the lady, "Look, a kitten!" The lady said that there were 10 others up the street near the rail yard and she thought maybe someone had dumped them. Mommy picked me up and brought me inside to see Daddy, who was naturally drawn to my irresistable charm and good looks. Daddy said that if no one claimed me that I could stay. He then went to look for the other kittens, but the neighbourhood mean cat had already chased them off. No one ever claimed me, so I get to stay! They decided to name me Spook in honour of the day I found them and also because it's one of their favourite holidays.

Bio:
I would love to play with my cat siblings, but Shadow seems grumpy and the fat one just hisses at me. I am used to the dogs and will often play with them instead, especially the beagle - she's not too much bigger than me. Every night I hang out in the bedroom with the people and the dogs. I'm an indoor kitty, but I have friends on the block who come to see me - Willy from next door, and Spunky the pretty girl who lives on the other side of us.

The Misadventures of Spook

It's a .... boy?

When Daddy checked me on Halloween to see what I was, he proudly announced that I was a girl. Mommy kept calling me a boy, because I look like my cousin Rilie and Daddy would get upset.

Today Mommy was in the kitchen making grilled cheese and I was on Daddy's desk parading in front of his monitor. All of a sudden Mommy's hears Daddy exclaim, "Hey!" He comes rushing in to the kitchen with me under his arm, my bum pointed towards Mommy. Daddy unceremoniously lifted up my tail, pushed my bum towards Mommy and said with a look of confusion and amazement, "Is this a boy?" Trying not to laugh, Mommy inspected me. "Yup," she said, "Spook's a boy!"

Daddy shook his head in amazement and said, "Wow, those weren't there on Halloween they must have just dropped down." Mommy asked Daddy if he was disappointed that I wasn't a girl, because he had seemed so happy about that. Daddy just shrugged and said, "Nope. Cheaper to neuter." Then tucked me under his arm and went off to call Grandma with the news.
