Being on the balcony, hunting insects, drinking from bath faucet, looking out the window
Having his claws clipped (he becomes a Monster)
Laser beam, any bugs, strings, cat dancer, elastic hair ties (keep buying some, they disappear)
Favorite Nap Spot:
Closet, hidden behind my clothes...., his transport box (we call it his condo)
Eukanuba Reduced calories (he's now at 13.5 lbs & must go back to 12) Prescription Diet t/d (dry food); Medical or Royal Canin Weight Control (cans); Pounce chicken treats; goes nuts for chips & dairy products (e.g. cheese, sorbet, yogourt)
Opening doors (jumps on handles, picks at the bottom of folding doors, a real thief);
My ex and I had found a cat. Still, we sought out and found the rightful owner but were devastated in giving the cat back (I had named her Pixel, her name was Penelope). My sister then pointed me to a friend whose cat had had babies a few months back , some of which were still available....The same night we gave Pixel back, we went to see the cats....It was love at first sight when I saw 5 mth old Ludwig running in the house.
His former owners actually brought him and his sister, Naomi (beautiful black cat owned by my ex seen here w Ludwig in the closet when they were a few months old) to the SPCA but felt so guilty, that they went back to get them the next day.
Despite his independent nature, he will come to me on cue when I say: "Ludwig, viens voir maman" (Ludwig, come see mommy). Also, when I get on all fours (like him), he'll come rub against me and purr. He purs when I speak softly to him and shower time is HIS special time...He'll sit on the counter and greet me when I come out...extends his neck to rub and purr...
Interestingly, as the only male cat of 2 yrs and some mths, Ludwig let Cassius become the alpha cat in the house...Actually, Ludwig always welcomed neighbor cats in without becoming territorial. Cassius became the Boss, but it's OK as Cassius loves Ludwig and I so deeply that there is no harm done to Ludwig. I do my best to assure both of my own love and devotion. We're a tight little family... ;-) All this to say that despite being a tad allergic...(before Cassius, Ludwig slept on the pillow next to me and in the am, I couldn't breathe as well), I treat these lovelies as my children and would never give them up (which is why I find this site so rewarding, so many wonderful persons who do anything they can to save, nurture and give love to cats, dogs, etc., often going beyond their means. It's great to be here.)
UPDATE: Ludwig, love of my life, was diagnosed with diabètes on March 8, 2013. After a full battery of tests, we found he also had a stone lodged in his bladder...so an operation was planned after his diabètes was stabilized. We never got there. On March 20, I noticed he was no longer drinking or eating much. The next morning, I brought him to the vet to have him checked out. They said he might have had an allergic reaction to one of the meds (clamavox) he was taking. I left him there to be rehydrated, and checked thoroughly. A few hours later, I got THE call. He had stopped breathing...possible pulmonary embolism. I went to see him one last time that night. I was not ready... Still in shock. I had not come here in a long time but thought I should at least update his page. Love and hugs to all of you. Mommy Anne.
