Fall is almost here!

I'm purrry excited that Fall is almost here. The other day, it was very windy and leaves were blowing everywhere. I got so excited and wanted to go outside and catch them. Mom put up a bird feeder right outside the bedroom window. I'm so excited to watch the birds, too. It keeps me occupied when Mom and Dad are gone during the day. I hope everyone likes my Halloween costume! It's a pirate's life for me...well, at least a pirate's season.

This is Harriet's Mom and Dad, and we are OUTRAGED by a news report we heard this morning, which featured a YouTube video that showed a Marine on duty in Iraq throwing a puppy off a cliff. We are horrified and disgusted by this deplorable and egregious act of this individual, and frankly, it makes me worry about the psychological stability of the individual who could commit this horrifyingly cruel act on a defenseless and vulnerable creature.

Mom and Dad got MARRIED!

So Mom hasn't been updating my page lately because she's been so busy with something called a "wedding". This "wedding" happened in October and now she and Dad wear rings that they won't let me chew on. Things are getting back to normal; they play with me more again and Mom is training me using a clicker! I now know how to come on command and to sit. I'm slowly getting used to a harness and leash so Mom can take me outside safely. I'm a smart gal!

7 things about me:

1. I came into the shelter where Mom volunteers at 3.5 months old (apparently I was found all alone), and Mom adopted me the day I went up for adoption. I had a pretty bad URI, but Mom nursed me back to health, and now I'm fit as a fiddle!

2.) I love to play fetch with paper balls; when Mom and Dad are home and I want to play, I'll get my ball and drop it at their feet.

3.) I absolutely love yogurt. I'll paw at the yogurt container when Mom is eating it. She tells me not to beg, but it's also so cute that she can't resist giving me a taste or two!

4.) My newest skill is jumping on top of the refrigerator and sitting up there.

5.) I ran out the front door one time and stopped short when I realized that I was in a completely different world! Mom freaked out, so I let her pick me up and bring me back inside. I haven't run outside since.

6.) I have a pretty pink collar that is embroidered with my phone number and the phrase, "I'm microchipped" in case I DO get outside again!

7.) I love to ride in the car. When Mom gets my carrier out of the closet, I know it's time to go for a ride. When she says, "Okay, let's go!", I'll jump in my carrier. I especially like when we stop at red lights and I can look out the window. It's so much fun!

I'm almost a year old!

Mom and Dad are very excited--I will be one years-old on April 4th, 2007! They are planning a kitty party for me. Mom and Dad are also talking about something called a "wedding". Dad just gave mom a shiny ring that I keep trying to bite when mom holds me. What gives?!

Plants, plants, everywhere, but only one for me to eat!

Yesterday I got into one of mom and dad's plants and then threw up all over the rug. My companion was very sweet and sympathetic, but she was also really concerned that I was able to get all the way up on the shelf to the plant, so she moved the plant outside! Go figure! I guess she just isn't used to me being bigger and being able to climb everywhere now. But then later in the day she came home with a plant--she called it "kitty grass"--just for me. Now I can chew on a plant to my heart's content and it doesn't make me sick!

I love the big white box that blasts hot air into the room. I've taken permanent residence beside it during the day. Oh yeah--mom and dad finally gave in--they let me sleep in the bed now! The call me the "cat alarm" because I sit outside of the door and meow if they don't let me in. Finally my plan worked!
