Arrival Story: My Prissy (dachshund) found him on a rainy summer day, huddled in a corner by the dumpster. He'd been abandoned with a litter and escaped when the others were found. He only weighed 2.1 lbs. the day we found him.
Prissy was his surrogate mom, and when she died 6 months later, Simon was very sad.
When Maggie (the red dachshund in his family picture) came to keep Simon company, he was her surrogate parent. He did the same for Ace (the black/tan long-hair dachshund in his family picture)a year later.
Who would have thought a big He-Man like Simon would be such a nurturing parent for a couple of dogs. He even let Maggie try to nurse on him!
Simon is the only cat I've ever had. My mother taught me to stay away from all cats and to be afraid of them. Boy was she wrong! My Simon is such a sweetheart.
Bio: Simon has been his mom's faithful companion for 7 wonderful years. He comes when I call him, he lets the dogs know when he's had enough of their nonsense and that he could take them out if he wanted to. Simon likes hanging out with his mom when she's working in the yard. She planted a special bed of tall grasses just for him. He also has his very own catnip patch.
He had to have a toe removed in August due to cancer, but he's jumping high into pecan trees again. He's so beautiful running across the yard to greet his mom when she comes home from work.
When he's hungry, he rubs against my leg and makes his tail "dance"! He also likes to run ahead of me in the yard, then flop on his back for a tummy rub.
One week last summer, he brought me a total of 7 mice in 5 mornings!
I'm really worried about My Simon now. He's never been gone overnight, and now he's been gone since Oct. 12. I think someone may have taken him, because he's just never strayed away before. His vet says to keep searching and that he'll find his way home if he's not hurt. I hope he's home soon, because I'm really sad and miss him. So do Ace and Maggie.
It's November 7 now, and still no sign of Simon. We miss him so very much, and just hope and pray he's safe and warm. We're still looking for him. Simon's Mom is really stubborn about wanting all of her kids at home. She's gone to about 400 doors so far, in addition to lots of signs in neighborhoods, offering a reward, and posting on numerous websites.
Simon, Mommy loves you, and she's trying every way she knows how to find you and bring you home. Be brave Sweet Kitty.

Please come home. It's been so boring and lonely without you, and Mommy's really sad. She has met lots of nice people while looking for you, but she really just wants to find you.
Kim and Gerritt came to see us last week, and they were very sad that you hadn't come home yet. They love you, too. Gerritt came all the way from California to see his "Big Guy".
We Love You,

I'm really sorry I growled at you. I know you didn't really want my milk bone. Please come home. Mommy has been so sad since you've been gone. I promise I'll be nicer to you, because I love and miss you, too.
Read Simon's Diary!
Dear Santa: All I want for Christmas is for "My Simon" to be returned to me, safe and sound. I miss you Simon, and I'll never quit looking for you. Love, Mom

New Catster Group: Missing Cats-Let's Help Find Them is a wonderful new Catster group started by our friend Mawse. Be sure to go to the group and look at the other kitties who are missing. If you're lost, get your Humans to join the group for you. We love Mawse and friends for thinking of us!
I Miss You Simon: Dear Simon, Christmas has come and gone, and you still aren't home. Where are you baby? I miss you so much. All the pound kitties in the world can't take your place in my heart. I love you more than ever, and I still cry when I think about you or look at your pictures. I keep hoping and praying that whoever has you will bring you home, or let me know where I can find you. You're such a good boy, and this just isn't fair. Please don't forget me. Please Come Home! Luv U, Simon's Mom
Where Are You?: Where are you Simon? It's time to start getting the flower beds ready for spring and you're not here to help me. The paper whites are already in full bloom, the squirrels are waking up and reappearing, and so are the birds. I need you! Please tell whoever has you to bring you home. I love you. Mom
Mom, I know you've been going crazy (more than usual) looking for me and worrying about me, but you really don't have to fill up the house with every pound kitty you see. I AM TRYING to get home! Please make sure you save my space and toys for me!
I certainly hope you've got a big supply of catnip and tuna waiting for me! Purrrr.
For those who don't know, my mom's been hanging out at the pound a lot since I disappeared. Last week she found a cream-colored male tabby at the Town Lake Animal Center (Austin, TX). He's about 2 years old, and she named him Austin when she adopted him Friday (Jan. 5, 2007).
Austin has white boots on his rear legs, and his front paws look like they've been dipped in white. He also has white fur like a collar on his neck under his chin. He has short hair and a striped tail--not fluffy like mine. Unlike me, he has all of his toes.
He's really handsome and very sweet (like me, of course!). He was unaltered when he arrived at the pound, but was neutered there before Mom brought him home. Poor guy...I was just a tiny kitten when they did that to me. I can't imagine how it much hurt to have it done now to a grown-up cat. He has a microchip now, too. I'll be glad when Mom finds me so I can get one, too.
Austin has obviously been a house cat with outside privileges. He likes sleeping on Mom's bed, making biscuits on the comforter, and drinking from the potty (just like me). He's very calm, and puts up with Duchess swatting him and talking kitty-trash to him.
Mom hasn't taken a picture of him to make a Catster page yet, but she said if she can find Austin's original family, she'll give him back to them. Mom says somebody HAS to be looking for Austin and worried sick about him, because he is just so sweet and well-mannered.
She said if someone has adopted me and finds out she's looking for me, she would want them to let me come home, so she's trying to do the same for Austin. If she can't find his original mom, then Austin has a terrific forever home where he'll be safe and loved. I'll love him, too, when I get home. He's going to need me to help him manage the beasties and Little Duchess.
Of course, Mom's telling Austin "NO, NO" when he meows at the windows and doors at night--and she's right--he doesn't need to get out there and get lost again. Believe me, I know!
If any of you think Austin may be your lost fur-baby, or may know who he is separated from, please let my mom know. She doesn't want his mom and/or dad to have to worry about him.
By the way, Duchess, you can stop spreading that nasty rumor about me. I AM NOT OUT CATTIN' AROUND! Bite your tail! I did not choose to leave, and I sure wish someone would point me in the right direction to get home.
A wonderful new Catster feature started by my friend Mawse and her Mom! Be sure to visit the group and see the other lost/missing kitties. If you're lost, get your Mom or Dad to put your picture on the group, too! We love Catster and Mawse and all our friends!
Well, Christmas was sad for all of us. I didn't make it home. I missed out on the trip to Houston to see my human sister, Kimmi, and her new boyfriend, Josh.
I know Mom didn't even put up a tree this year. I'm sorry this is so hard for my people. It's hard for me, too. I really love getting turkey and ham during the holiday season. Mom has a picture of me sitting in one of the dining room chairs, waiting to be served my portion of the Christmas feast when I was just 6 months old! Even at that young age, I knew what was good, and how to mind my manners. Ahh, the memories....
