indoors Arrival Story: Our beloved cat Samantha passed away in August 1999 at age 16. I was so broken up that I thought I didn't want to have another cat and go through the heartache of seeing another kitty get sick and die. Three days later I told my husband: "Get in the car, we're going over to the Humane Society." We looked at several kittens, then noticed a small brown tabby hanging off the bars of her cage and yelling her head off. I said: "I want THAT kitten!" and she was so lovely and sociable.
One big note: The Humane Society of Montgomery County in Christiansburg, VA is the best shelter I have ever seen. They are a no-kill shelter, and screen all applicants when they come in to adopt. They socialized Lucy very well as a kitten and as a result she has been a joy to our family and I am so grateful to the staff there for their wonderful work. Bio: Born on Bloomsday!
