Oh dear, it's been a long time

My apologies all. It's been five years since I wished you all happy holidays - and as it so happens, it's time to do so again.

So Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all. I will be keeping a spot warm for you near the fireplace. Yes, even in Las Vegas, it gets cold at night during the winter. With the wind chill this morning it felt like 32 degrees out, and 'twas a tad chilly indoors as well. Thermostat set for 70 might be okay in the summer, but doesn't quite cut it in the winter.

Meanwhile I need to stake out my spot on the bed for the night before Bella takes it.

Health Update

Hello, all! I saw the vet again yesterday for my booster shots and worse yet, itchy ears. The doctor said something about a lot of yeast - but did she have to dig half way to China to get it all cleaned out? And the ear cream mom has to use for it - ewwww. The good news is I'm up to 12.9 lbs, eating well, and basically healthy. She was very happy to see me. Wish I could same the same. (*hmph*)

Wow, Diary of the Day! I feel so honored!!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Just be careful what you eat - some common human foods aren't very good for us...

Happy Holidays!

Yesterday, Dr. Rowan said I could finally get that gawd-awful feeding tube out of my neck - yay!! I've been back to eating and drinking on my own, and doing just fine, thankyouverymuch. I had to growl at mom the other night to get her to stop trying to over-stuff me. Dr. Rowan says I don't need any rechecks, just take the bandages off today and keep an eye on the incision site to make sure it heals properly and doesn't get infected.

Meanwhile, we've moved to a new home - lots of room to run around and get comfy in!! Mom is still quite busy trying to bring over all of our stuff and clean up the mess over there that's left behind, but hopefully that will all get done this week, and we can then get this new place in shape for the holidays.

Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers, I know it helped! :)

It's SOOO good to be home!

Well, what a difference a day makes!!! It's SO nice to be home, in my comfy surroundings, with mom here to fuss over me all the time. My feedings and meds are going fine so far - and mom even got me the latest in kitty feeding-tube-wear! (See new pic above - don't I look great in pink?).

I got back to visit the vet on Saturday for a check up. Thank you everyone for your support, I know it's made a world of difference for me!!

>>kitty hugs!!

Feeling better...

I was feeling SO much better today! I had the energy to be up and around, grooming myself, trying to escape from this durned cage – I even crawled on to mom and let her hold me for a while. The vet says that my liver function tests are looking better too, except for the bilirubin, but she wasn’t worried as she expects a lot of these values to take several weeks to return to normal. They were trying me on 40 cc feedings today, but I couldn’t keep them down – seems like I'm fine all day, then when mom gets here to see me and try to take me home, I have to barf. :P

I think maybe I get a little over-excited, especially when mom brings her cubs with her ~ and being the active, noisy creatures that they are ~ it's a bit more excitement than my poor tummy can take right now.

In any event, the vet wants to back down the feedings and try again for sending me home on Wednesday, and in the meantime, she took me for a new IV placement (current one was more than three days old - :P) and a BATH when mom left. (Gack!).

Day six is done...

... and things are looking up a bit. I've been able to keep down my 12 cc feedings and my meds, so now they'll try giving me 20 cc at a time. They're also cutting back on my IV fluids to wean me off of that. I even have things moving through the digestive system again, so all in all, I'm doing better. Mom got to give me one of my feedings today, and she came back to visit later too. I'm going to look forward to seeing her tomorrow again.

Day Six...

... and I'm still in the hospital, but things are coming along. I heard the vet call mom this morning and tell her that I was able to keep my feedings and medicine down over night, so they're going to try increasing the feedings today. So far so good. Maybe, just maybe, I can go home this weekend.

What a day!!

They shaved my belly, put me to sleep, and when I woke up - there's this long tube sticking out of my neck and all this - stuff- wrapped around my neck so I can't get at it! Mom finally came to see me and that made me feel a bit better. I heard the vet tell her that they did the liver biopsy, and tomorrow they will start feeding me through the tube, a little at a time. Hopefully by Thursday or Friday, if I'm tolerating the feedings well, I can go home and just visit the vet every few days for dressing checks. Here's hoping...
