I am a big brother

A lot has happened since my last diary entry - so much that mom has not let me on the computer to tell everyone about it !

Mom has got two more little sisters for me this Xmas ! They are called Squeek and Bubbles - they're keeping Timmy and Me VERY busy running around everywhere, they really are very fast and make me feel my age ( 2 - ish ) Sometimes we grab them on their scruff to slow them down and just remind them who's the boss around here....but if mum catches us doing this we get a THOMAS !! or Timmy gets a stern TIMMY ! We are not really the boss you see but to be honest Squeek and Bubbles don't know that yet !

I have taken to looking after Squeek during the night and Timmy looks after her during the day, we follow them around just incase they have any questions about stuff. Bubbles is a bit shy and only comes out to play when the coast is clear, she is very fluffy i am a bit jealous of her lovely coat. I think it would keep me very warm outside in the cat run but i dont think she'll swap coats with me :-(

new friend?

i think i might be getting a new little brother soon, i can't wait !!

He looks a bit like me too although i have only seen the photos on the internet so far..he is living in Meadow lake at the humane society for now.

i thought i wouldn't like a new brother but have changed my mind ! Mum had a quiet word in my ear and told me my new brother will be my playmate and will chase me all over our new cat run outside that dad built us !

Anyway, thats all i know for now, got to get back to my fancy feast, more news later !!

july

Gosh i haven't said anything for quite a while, things have been quite exciting for me though.

We have moved house, to Borden Sk from Sasaktoon. I love it here, we live on an acreage & there are sooo many windows to look out of, sooo many birds and they are oh so close i can almost taste them !

Mum has hung bird feeders on the trees, deck & window & these birds actually feed off them ! Cool ! I squeak hello but they don't answer much, some times i get a twitter in reply if i'm lucky.

Mum has also bought me a new tv to watch, i like to sit on the ottoman & watch Animal Planet, i even have a DVD all of my own that mum puts on when she goes to work - it has birds & gophers & fish on it - yay!!

i have learned to sleep on top of the bed now at night, it is not cold anymore so i don't go under the covers. When Dad comes home he moans that there is cat fluff on his pillow..i don't know what he means ! I am just keeping it warm for him while he is away !

We have a new dog now called Judah, he is old & nice & he smiles at me lots & wags his tail. It took a while for him to come indoors as he likes to live outside ( so would i ! )but he is inside a lot of the time now as its so hot outside, he is also afraid of thunder & sits under the kitchen table panting until the storm passes.

Mum & Dad thought about getting another cat the other day, briefly, but i don't think they will - i hope not - i like being the littlest guy !

i am one year old now, wow i have come a long way on a year :)

More later, for now it's snack time then bed time ( play time for me ! )

More things i have learnt ( as i get older & naughtier)

Bruno hates it when i bite him but this has proved an excellent way to get him off the bed if i want his spot that he has warmed up.

Christmas trees are great fun, all those cat toys dangling there just for me !

If i let Jasmine clean my ears when i have ear mites she will catch them too - & mum will go mad & have to treat the whole gang with ear mite stuff. Sorry Mum. I was a farm cat, what can i say.....i am all cleaned up now though !

If i eat my food quickly i get more as Mum thinks i am a starving little waif. I learnt this off Bruno who knows a thing or 2 about food. I hope to grow up & out to be as poofie as him ( he tells me its all fluff, he isn't fat at all )

Cat flaps are both annoying & fun... Mum makes me come thro it to get my breakfast ! She says i have to learn to use it as she can't keep leaving the door open all the time for me. I like just to sit one side of it and squeak then play under the door with whoever comes to see me !

I like watching National Geographic TV especially when there are Eagles on it or Salmon, they remind me of wild days before i came to live here :0)

busy week

Well i have been a busy boy. I am now de-balled ( erm.. i am neutured, is the correct term !) and de ear-mited & have had all my shots.
My vet thought i would need an operation as they couldn't find one of my little men back there, but he was there all along & all went well.

I came home yesterday & was behaving until about 9pm when i decided to cause havoc & run around the house, playing with all the toys, at once, even though i was supposed to keep still & not run for 7 days...ahem... !

Mum put me into my cat crate, she put my horrible collar on me that stops me biting my stitches too. So i cried, made lots of noise & tried to get my collar off to get her attention. It worked & she let me out but then i ran to the rug & itched my bottom on there instead, as i couldn't get my teeth there !!

Mum says i have made myself sore but it felt really good :)

She stayed up with me all night as i refused to go to sleep unless i was lying across her chest, with the duvet on top of me. At 3.30am this became too much for her, i think she couldn't sleep with me like that although i was very comfy. I ended up back in my crate, Mum took my collar off me & we went downstairs & slept on the sofa so i wouldn't wake Dad & Mum could keep an eye on me.

I am feeling much better today & have caught up on my sleep already by snoozing all day in my cat tree. I haven't tried to eat my stitches either so i have not had to wear my collar either.

Everyone is hoping i behave tonight, purrr purrrrr !!!!

Things i have learnt so far by Thomas aged approx 6 months

To jump onto the counter top as that's where food comes from(although i sometimes mis judge it & slide off!)

To run to the fridge & gaze in wonder at the food inside at every oportunity.

To Meoww (or Squeak at the moment) for my breakfast / lunch / supper.No more having to chase pesky mice at the farm, i get food in a dish now!!

To sit right behind Mom or dads legs when they are cooking, so that if they fall over me i might be able to catch any falling food YUM!

To sleep under the duvet with Jasmine & Human Mom ( when dad is away) as it's nice & warm there. And jasmine will wash my ears too!

To Squeak lots, then i get picked up & i can see better from up there.

To never leave my food dish unattended as it will get emptied by Bruno!

Yuk medicine

Had my De Wormer tablet today, My good ness it was almost as big as me. Dad held me while Mom carefully opened my little mouth & shoved half a tablet to the back of my mouth & closed my mouth till I stuck my tongue out & licked my nose, this meant i had swallowed it. But I still had to eat the other half & it tasted Gross!! I squealed a bit but They didn't let up & kept my mouth shut till i licked my nose again. I know its for the best but never want to eat one of those again!!

The Visit!

Today it was the day of Thomas' first visit to the vet. Uh, oh, lots of poking around going to happen here... What with Thomas being an ex farm cat he could have all sorts of nasties lurking in him....

10 mins into the exam, he is looking good, weighs 2.4 kilos so is probably around 5 months old ( good guess by us!) No heart murmur, Vet says she would like to take some blood to check for Feline Aids as we don't know his history & as he will be living in a multi cat household, its best we know.
I agree as i want whats best for him, of course.

Off goes Thomas..comes back minutes later with a wet neck. Still Purring tho'

Quick check in the mouth shows he has red gums which= gingivitis (sp?) so his teeth might fall out..when they grow that is. He has his adult teeth, but not many of them! Vet says cats can live quite happily with no teeth. He is not in any pain as Vet tests his chomping on some kibble & he is quite happy to chomp.

Now onto the ears...oh no, i know he has ear mites,but when the Vet takes a swab she says she can see them crawling on the Q tip. Yikes, minutes later Thomas is ear bathed. Poor Thing but it's for the best. After the ear bath he gets his ear mite killer poured into each ear. Looking a bit unhappy now!!

Next comes the injections, two this time then one next month. Thomas takes it all in his stride, Good Boy :) Vet says he may get sleepy later on ( note: it's now 2 hours since we got home...Thomas has just fallen to sleep!)

Next Thomas gets his wormer pill. Vet says to give it him in a couple of days time, as he has been thro enough today. It is huge...bigger than Thomas.

Now we can go home. Just need to pay the bill. There's a Rotti pup in the waiting room, it's cute! And a lovely Ginger cat is meowing too. A Lady is standing there with a dog's bed in her hand. She is crying & talking to the receptionist about Urns....think her dog has died....I couldn't work in a Vets office :(
