Stumpy is one of my rescue kitties at my small sanctuary. He started showing up around 1999.
He has a stubby manx tail and hip dysplasia. He was so shy that for a couple of years I could not catch him to have him fixed. Every spring and fall he had to participate in the tom-cat competiton and always got mercilessly beaten up. I was always so worried he would not come back. But after a few days he would come limping back and nurse his wounds. Finally I was able to have him fixed after about 3 years . He has turned into a very mellow roundish and happy boy. His eyelids grow inward so we have to clean his eyes often. Now that he's not so shy with me anymore, I can actually pet him and he loves it so much. He is such a sweetheart!
Well, he just showed up for feeding time with my outside half-feral kitties one day about 1999.
update 6/07: Stumpy had to have all his teeth pulled last week, but he seems to be better than ever. I guess the tooth problem was making him quite uncomfortable.
October 2008: I am doing well, and enjoying life as it is, nibbling food and lying in the sun. A great happiness has come into my life: I fell in love with a most charming English lady - the lovely Cathy ( Catster # 698527 ). I could hardly believe that such a sweet sweet girl could also fall in love with gristled old me... Sigh - the power of love - we have proof! 6/21/2009: I got married today to the most beautiful kitty girl - my English Rose, Cathy. I am so very happy.
teeth are overrated !

I can't believe it has been almost 3 weeks since I came here.
I am spending half of my time here at the bridge, and the other half me and our wonderful son Pickles are in England being with my beloved Cathy in her dreams.
She is a wonderful mom, and it is the most beautiful site to see when she is cuddling with our sweet boy, the white kitten and the black mom. I love them so much, it makes my heart ache.
we were very sad to find that another wonderful Catster has come to the bridge, dear Calvin came here on Monday, so we had a big party that was all about him yesterday. Then we flew down to Cathy to tell her every detail.
My dad wrote a song for me and this is what you hear on my page now. It is a great Stumpy song. Maybe I will dance to it with Cathy tonight.

I'm so happy!!
After asking Little Pickles and my dear sweet wife Cathy, we have decided to offer Pickles who was just a wee kitten when he came to the bridge this week, to be our adopted son.
Pickles wrote me this:
Sure, I like you to be my angel kitty daddy =)
Thankies for giving me a hand at The Bridge.
I hope Cathy is happy knowing she has a little family here waiting for her someday...
Your Little Pickles
This is wonderful.
Right now, I will take my little boy, and we will fly to England to be with Cathy in her dreams.
And some day, after Cathy will come to the rainbow, we will be together as a family forever.

I'm here, dear friends, at the rainbow! it is just as wonderful as you said, and the flight was a quick and easy one.
I was in my mom's arms, they gave me the sleepy shot, and even though I was unconscious, mom scratched me under the chin and I purred with every breath.
Then they gave me the 2nd shot to free me of my body, and even then I purred with 3 more breaths. I wanted to let mom know just how much I loved her.
Doctor Mandy and Doctor Jaimie said they had never experienced that with another kitty.
Mom wrapped my poor old body in my Hazel Lucy blanket - the one I used to lie on and dream of my sweet Cathy girl.
Tomorrow my body will rest beside Little Mask's.
Now I will fly to England to wrap my wings around Cathy and never leave her side until we are joined again flying free at the rainbow.
thanks for everything, dear friends
Stumpy - flying free, his sweet spirit not confined by his sick little body anymore
