Arrival Story:
Cassandra was brought to our hospital by someone who found her on a busy road after she was hit by a car. She wasn't their cat and they weren't willing to take responsibility for her. After we stabilized her we tried to find her owners with no luck. Our wonderful doctor agreed to take her on as a "charity case." She had surgery to wire her jaw, then several days later had a feeding tube put in since she refused to eat. The skin and tissue on her chin died and had to be removed, and skin sutured over it. She developed an upper respiratory infection and her nose and throat drained constantly. After 3 weeks the feeding tube developed a hole and we had to remove it. After a week or so of force feeding and nibbling, she started to eat on her own. The respiratory problem cleared up. We took the wire out of her jaw and found it was not healed, so now it has suture around it. She eats wonderfully now and loves everyone. She loves to get out of her cage and wander around the hospital looking for hiding places. She loves to be petted in sit in laps. She hates our current office cat, so we need to find her a forever home. She's not too keen on other cats, so needs a place with no more than one more kitty. She doesn't mind dogs.

We don't know Cassie's age or history (the age I put here is a wild guess). She is spayed, and we have vaccinated her. She's an adult cat--possibly middle aged. She's very sweet and loving, with just a hint of tortie attitude. She'd probably not do well with very small kids. She is living in Layton, Utah, but we could transport her to the right home. UPDATE!! Cassie went to a new home a week ago. I'm planning to call them today and make sure all is going well. Her new family has only one pet, and older dog, which is good since she doesn't care for other cats. The family is a mom and three teenage girls who have been wanting a cat for a long time now. They fell in love with Cassie at first sight. Hopefully this will be her forever home!! UPDATE AGAIN! I spoke to Cassie's new mom, and she is doing fine. She made herself right at home, and spends most ot the day laying on a chair or someone's lap. She isn't too fond of the dog, but is tolerating him. So far, so good!!
