Arrival Story:
When we moved into our apartment in San Francisco, we discovered a colony of feral cats in the back. Being good cat citizens we started trapping and taking them in, as well as raising and socializing kittens. We noticed one cat that was seemingly part of the colony but didn't act feral. It was Prince. He liked us way better than the feral cats and would waltz into the apartment. Later we found out from the neighbors that a previous tenant of the apartment had abandoned him, so he was just looking to be loved again.

When we moved to Oakland and bought a house we brought Prince with us. He didn't mind at all and settled right into the house. He was a really incredible cat in terms of his intelligence, looks, distinctive meow and affection. A prince among cats. His life on the streets had really impacted his health though and we struggled to keep him well. In August 2004, when I was on vacation with my mom, Prince got sicker and sicker. Jason took him to the vet but they didn't really know what to do. Jason and Prince had a good couple of days together and Prince got worse so Jason took him in again and they kept him overnight. The next morning he had a seizure and died. I and especially Jason were really broken up about it.
