Totally Flip'd Out

R.I.P.

Sadly, Flip passed away due to heart cancer. She is greatly missed in the house by her fellow feline, Mayo, and her best canine friend, Katy.

She was strong until the end, not wanting us to know there was anything wrong with her at all.

Unfortunately, we did not learn of the severity of her illness until a necropsy was performed. They had thought she was in renal failure and we had been treating her weekly to make her comfortable.

When the box containing her cremated remains was opened, we discovered that the certificate read, "Pet of Katy." How bittersweet. She and Katy had a great dog/cat relationship. I think we've been more worried about how Katy will fare without her than worrying about ourselves. :)

Who needs tainted food?

Had a nice meal recently of giant moth. The bug was stupid enough to come inside where I trapped and chowed. Dog was pretty upset that I got it first. Must eat fast!! The wings were really annoying, flapping on my face while I made for a safe spot to chew. Yummm.

Lately Dog has been chasing me. Lovely evening adventure. After the lights go out, we run a few laps back and forth around the house. Dog forgets that she weighs 95 pounds and can't go where I go. Dumb Dog ... but I love her.

So this is my first day on Catster. One of my dogs at home has a page on Dogster, and she liked the attention so much I thought I should join the club, see what all the excitement was about.

When my mom went abroad a couple of years ago, I was adopted by friends who have DOGS! Really big dogs, too. But the other cat in the house is a boy (ew), so I decided to get to know the girl pups instead and discovered that they're a lot of fun to be with. Always chasing balls or bugs and playing with squeaky toys. Totally my kind of thing. Shelby always tries to take my favorite mousey-mouse toy, but Katy protects me -- she'll walk me back to the doggie door and wait for me to come back in. She even lets me swat her every now and then. Who said dogs and cats couldn't be friends?!

So I'm looking forward to joining some Catster groups and learning more about what it means to be a cat...especially since I'm becoming more and more like a dog as time passes...
