Arrival Story: After a lot of thought and daydreaming I decided to adopt a cat. A neighbor down the street fostered several cats and I decided to pay a visit. I was debating between two when she mentioned one that lived upstairs away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house. Bruce was not happy to see me. He desperately wanted to get away from me. But, he looked just like the cat I grew up with. I decided to go home and think about it.
That evening Bruce's foster mom emailed me Bruce's story... How he was found in front of the vet's office, where he was assumed to be dead. How he lived there for 3 months and was miserable. How he was stressed living with two big collies and 7 cats. How he needed a home and how sweet he really was.
I decided to give Bruce a try. But what I found out was that he was really trying me out first. After the first week, Bruce and I were a happy family, and now two years later, I've determined that no one will ever be or could ever be as loving or as grateful as the King.

Bio: Since Bruce is a rescue, I don't know exactly how old he is. However, from his medical records I've been able to guess that he's around 5 years old now. Sometimes I wish I had him sooner, either way he's my love bug.

I'd probably hide. A lot. No matter, I'm King of Mom's apartment.
Mom's anticipating UTI #3. She's got another 2 months or so (that's if it goes the way it's been going) I feel fine. So I think she should stop worrying.
I have a new hiding place in the closet when Mom's not paying attention to me. I'm a sulker. So sue me. I need attention. When I don't get it, I go off in a corner and sulk. In the closet. Then Mom comes to find me and let's me sit in her lap and pets me. So, it looks like the closet works!
Keppe still has my pillow. He can have it. I like to sleep along Mom's side. Keeps me nice and cozy now that it's getting colder out.
I'll be 7 on November 5th. I guess that makes me a senior cat. (But really, it's more middle aged! hmph) Mom can't believe we've been together for 4 years. While, she never could imagine giving me away (can you blame her?), she's just surprised that it's been so long. It seems like we've come such a long way from when she took me home to Brooklyn and I hid under her bed and was actually scared of her. (I can't believe I missed out on 2 weeks of loving) We've both come a long way. And to think she wasn't going to adopt me. (She was looking for a more independent cat... but I was too gorgeous for her to ignore.) We've both taught each other a lot.

When Mom adopted me I had just been treated for crystals and was told that I needed to stay on a specific diet.
After living with Mom for two years without any problems, Mom switched me diet food.
Then we moved.
UTI #1.
Poor Mom. She knew I wasn't feeling well cos I'm usually so good about using the litter box and she saw me squat on my cat bed.
Off to the vet.
Clavamox and the UTI is gone.
1 year later (almost to the day) UTI #2.
Same symptoms.
Off to the vet.
Clavamox and the UTI is gone.
Mom's feeling pretty convinced that I don't really develop crystals unless the UTI's go unchecked for a while. And since, I'm pretty good at telling her when I'm getting one, she'll make sure to be pretty good at listening. :)
Still, one has to wonder if the new apartment is giving me bad karma!
Anyway, while I was at the vet last month (and hating every second of it) I was weighed and we learned I lost about 3/4 of a pound. This sounds silly, but Mom's pretty excited about it, since I weighed more than her niece (who is 12 months old.)

Things are all topsy turvy and turvy topsey. I am not pleased. Keppe went to the vet last week to get his teeth fixed. He came back smelling like a cattery. Maybe I'm jealous, after all Keppe is MINE, he's not allowed to socialize with others. So, sue me. I'm ticked off.
Mom wasn't very pleased with my irritation. She's worried that now Keppe is scared of me and she's going to have to start from scratch introducing us all over again. But, I was good today (sort of). Keppe was on the couch with all of us and I just growled a little bit. Even he can't disturb a good resting place.
I will say that Keppe has taken over my pillow. And while at the moment I haven't beaten him to bits over it, I'm contemplating it. Mom knows that's my special spot, but since he's recuperating she's being all nice to him. She told me next week she'll start weaning him off my pillow and will find him a new spot to sleep on the bed.
I just need a little time. Once Keppe understands that I need loyal subjects we'll go back to our regular napping rituals.
