So This Raw Thing...

I'm not sure I like this afterall. I do like the no-more-kibble-ever rule, that's great. I've been very happy eating canned food every day. And I liked my occasional pinkie as a treat. But Mommy got some pre-made ground raw stuff, and started mixing it in with our canned food. I don't like it. I refused to eat at breakfast yesterday, and I tried to just pick out some of the canned at dinner but Mommy mixed the raw in really well so I only ate a bit. I refused to eat again this morning for breakfast, and tonight for dinner. Mommy said she doesn't want us to go without food for too long though because we can get sick. So she poured some tuna juice in our dinners tonight, and I finally ate everything in the bowl. Mommy says we can't always be bribed with tuna though, because she's read that canned tuna isn't exactly good for us (something about Mercury?) but she just wants to help us through the transition. She says that soon, all we will get is the medallions, and now that her new meat grinder got here yesterday, soon she'll start grinding food for us herself. She hopes that one day we'll eat non-ground, and she's wondering if maybe I'd like that better than the ground since I like to eat pinkies. I don't know why I've decided to be picky, but I just have. But Mommy's not giving up. I guess in the end, we'll all have to get used to it.

Raw or Bust

Mommy has already made her New Years resolution - us cats are going raw, or bust!

The other day, she brought home some leftover frozen pinkies from work. She gave one to each of us cats. I gobbled mine up right away! It was yummy! Stitch eventually ate hers, but Kittie and Tiger wouldn't touch their pinkies. Stitch and I got some kibble, and Kittie and Tiger went to bed with none. The next morning, Mommy tried to get them to eat their pinkies (that had been frozen again over night and re-thawed in the morning), but they still wouldn't touch them. After another failed attempt at dinner, I got to eat the leftover pinkies! Yay!

Mommy says that she is worried about our dental health, especially Kittie who is having problems with her teeth. So Mommy wants to get us all on a raw diet so that chewing on bones will clean off the nasties. Mommy found a meat grinder that is affordable and wants to get it for us for the Holidays. She hopes that if she starts out by grinding our raw diet, it will help with the transition this time.

Scary changes

Mommy packed us all up today and put us in the car and then we drove for about 20 minutes. She pulled up at another house and brought us all inside, and we finally got to come out of the kennels. I immediately ran and hid, while Kittie and Stitch decided to explore a little. There is another male cat here but he's sitting in the window sill and ignoring us. I'm not really sure why I'm here but Mommy says that this is where we're going to live now. She says that she and Daddy are separating, but I'm kind of confused because Daddy has been gone for awhile already. All the dogs are here too, so it's really a full house. The man that we are living with now is very nice. He said I was a handsome boy and coaxed me out from behind the sofa and gave me lots of pets and scritches. I just hope we'll be ok and Mommy won't have to be so sad now that we're all together.

Stitch and MY food

When it was just me and Kittie, Mommy always used to just fill up one of those automatic feeders full of food, and Kittie and I could eat throughout the day whenever we felt hungry. It worked great, so I thought. Whenever I felt like having a snack, there was always plenty of food. Even though Kittie and I had both been strays, we knew that we were now in a good home where the food would never run out, so we didn't have to gobble up all the food in sight right away. So we never overdid it - we didn't overeat and stayed in good shape.

But then Stitch came along.

Mommy started noticing that she was refilling our feeder a lot more frequently - much more than she should have been even with one new addition to the family. Then she also started noticing that Stitch was getting chubby! At least she realized it was Stitch that was to blame for eating up all the food and not me and Kittie. But regardless, me and Kittie got punished just the same.

Mommy took away our automatic feeder and switched us to regulated mealtimes. At first I didn't think too much about it. One morning Mommy put down a bowl of food for each of us. Kittie and I nibbled at ours for a bit, and then walked away. Stitch of course ate all of her food. But then, Mommy took the bowls away! I didn't care at first, yanno, cause I wasn't that hungry. But then later in the day I realized that I was hungry, and there was no food anywhere! By the time Mommy fed us dinner, I was starving and I ate everything in my bowl. Mommy says that at least we learned to adjust to two meals a day instead of free feeding pretty quickly and easily.

Well, sometimes it's still a little rough having these mealtimes. We always get very excited when we know Mommy is getting out our dishes for breakfast or dinner. Mommy always puts my bowl in the corner for me so I can guard it better. I'm a slow eater and Stitch is a fast eater, so of course when she is done eating she tries to come and steal my food. Mommy kept an eye out though, and would shoo her away whenever she got too close to me. Mommy thought Stitch had learned her lesson by now, so Mommy left us alone today to go do some other things around the house. Well sure enough, as soon as Mommy left, Stitch tried to come and steal my food again. I guess Mommy had a premonition (or maybe she heard Stitch's collar jingle as she ran across the room towards my bowl), but just as soon as she walked out the door she walked back in and saw Stitch being naughty! So Stitch got shooed away and luckily I got to eat all of my breakfast. That was a close call though!

Speaking of food... is it dinnertime yet?

Wow!

I am the Diary of the Day! I can't believe it. I feel so honored, and very surprised because I never thought my Diary was much compared to some of my siblings' diaries. Mommy gave me some treats and extra lovins today, so I feel pretty darn special. :)

Thank you Catster for picking my diary, and that you to all the kitties who have congratulated me!

Everyone else was doing it!

Mew? Kittie and Stitch updated their diaries, so I will too!

Well, we have a full house now, but Mommy still makes sure to spoil all of us rotten. I really like Stitch the kitten, she's fun to play with and she's not grouchy like Kittie can be. (Hopefully Kittie won't read this!) The little dogs that are now in our family as well are a nice change from the big dogs that look like they could eat little cats like us in one bite. Lola likes to play with us too, and sometimes she makes me a little nervous cause she's so hyper, but really she's not that bad most of the time.

Mommy also gave me a new haircut not too long ago. She did it herself instead of taking me to the groomers and it actually didn't turn out half bad.

That's about all I have to report for now. I'll try to keep this thing updated more frequently from now on.

Yay!

Mommy updated my page! It looks so nice! She took a bunch of pictures of all of us yesterday and got them uploaded to the computer so we could update our pages. I'm so happy I finally have more recent pictures of me. Some of them didn't come out as good as Mommy would have liked because the flash on the camera kept making me blink. Oh well, maybe she can take some pictures of me with the film camera cause the flash on that one isn't as bright. I'm just glad to have new pictures!

I think I should start a diary too. I don't know if I have much to say. But I will try.

Mommy bought us a new house to live in. It was a little stressful moving, especially because Dad's big scary beast came to live with us. But Kittie and I have a room that we can go in and the dogs can't. And Mommy bought us some new toys for in there, since Wrangler destroyed our old toys. Now Wrangler won't be able to get to our toys to destroy them anymore. I like the new toys, and Mommy promises to get us even more soon.

Time to nap on Mommy's lap for awhile. Maybe I'll post again later.
