Arrival Story:
I was ruling the roost in a barn in Oklahoma when a spider (so the vet says) bit me on the front leg. It really hurt and my leg got all icky looking. So, the lady who claimed to own my barn caught me in a cage and took me to the doctor. This doctor cleaned up my leg and then decided he wanted to cut it off. I was lucky the lady told him NO because he wasn't listening to me. He did do something called surgery on it though. It looked better for a while, but then got icky again so he did that surgery thing again. When I woke up from the second surgery, not only did my leg hurt, but so did my bottom. I don't remember getting bit by a spider there. Then I was stuck by a bunch of needles. As if that all wasn't enough, I caught cold from another sick cat at the doctor's office. Finally, the barn lady came to pick me up. But, instead of going back to my barn, she said she was taking me to a foster home where I could recover and find a better home later. When I got to this new place, I found a bed and hid under it. I didn't come out for 2 weeks. Occassionally, someone would drag me out and shove some icky tasting sticky stuff down my throat, but then I would growl at them. Finally, I decided I'd had enough of the dark, so I found a toilet to hide behind. If nobody was around, I'd curl up in the sink. By this time, the people had finally decided to quit cramming stuff down my throat and were petting me. I kind of liked that so I'd reach out and grab their hands with my claws when they'd stop. Actually, I should have stayed under the bed. After I came out, it was back to another doctor to fix what he called an etropian eye. I do have to admit though, my eye felt better later. It didn't feel all scratchy anymore. I did get my revenge though... I pooped in that cage they put me in to take me back from the doctor. I did get a bath because of that though, so maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all. Anyhow, I decided to stay out from underneath the bed because I figured there wasn't much else they could do to me. Eventually, I decided that living there wasn't so bad, so I decided to hang around, but the other animals here know who's boss and I still give my people a whatfor when they need it.

Bio:
Despite Buddy's gruff idealism of himself, he's actually a real love. He was scared to death when he came to us as a foster "kid" to heal from a bad wound on his leg. The vet was unsure it would ever regenerate the loss muscle and heal properly, but did after some time. Except for a scar, no evidence of any trouble remains. Buddy loves to snuggle and will drool (A LOT) when petted. He has a very loud purr too. If someone he doesn't know goes to him or if you approach him outside, he will growl for a minute until he decides if he wants to come to you or not. We weren't going to keep Buddy permanetly, but he needed so much care and took so long to adjust that we just didn't have the heart to send him elsewhere. He thinks he's the king cat, but he is really a big fuzzy push-over. He's all talk.
